It seems that the purpose of the port-a-nanomed is for medical staff to go to a medical emergancy and call a vendor for objects they need. There's nothing wrong with this, many emergancies need an actual doctor on-the-spot with relatively complex tools. However, in many cases a more immediate response is needed. That's kinda the idea behind first-aid kits. A box full of easy and fast medical devices so that a doctor isn't even needed to apply the basic, first things. I'm suggesting a device to fill in that use the port-a-nanomed doesn't have.
Think an unholy abomination born out of combining the port-a-nanomed and the port-a-sci. Basically a teleportering locker functionally identical to the port-a-sci, but starting out with the contents found in a medkit locker at round-start. People already seem to want this from the port-a-nanomed. The AI is often told to call the port-a-nanomed to a location and dump styptic powder or silver sulfadiazine. Which is rather clunky and slow compared to the crewmember just having a medkit. It's access locked and has a long list of every medical item instead of just first-response ones. It would be much more efficient for the injured crewmember or a bystander to just open a lock and grab the box with the right color, especially when speed is so often critical for medical emergancies.
Since the locker itself won't be access locked, it and the remote would probably need to be behind a door somewhere in medbay so Mr. Noeccess doesn't just drain it of all the chems at round-start. If it does run out it could be easily restocked by just putting more medkits in it.
