Departmental Bulletin Boards
#1
This is unrelated to the existing bulletin board object in the game already.

It would be helpful if departments like Engineering, Catering, and Security had a digital bulletin board - essentially a place where people with access to the board could add tasks or important reminders ("Search John Pubs!" or "Breach in the Kitchen needs fixing") - especially if they could be added by the AI as well.

Would probably be a physical wall-mounted computer which you could enter notes in. This would probably look something like this (this is purely a visual representation of what I am trying to communicate)

(Anything underlined can be clicked on)

Quote:Engineering Bulletin Board

Add note

Janitor's Closet APC broken by AI at 0:12 Delete

Breach in Brig needs fixing by Jimmy at 0:23 Delete

honk by Honko Bonko at 0:29 Delete

Power issues in Robotics and Medbay - wires broken? by Bryce at 0:45 Delete

When you click 'Add Note', a screen like this would appear

Quote:Title: ____________________

Note: _____________________

Submit

When you click on any of the underlined titles, you will see whatever the actual note is.

"Okay, but why?"

Well, it sure is fucking easy to forget things, and even easier to miss things over the radio. Additionally, if you're bored, this is a really easy way to see what there is to be done. Quiet shift as an officer? Look at the board and find that the AI put up a request for Jimmy Shits to be searched! Click on that and, hey, the AI noticed that the dude had a revolver. Now you got a lead!

Nothing to do as a chef? Hey, someone ordered a pizza through the board! Might as well make it now.

Yes, it's a small feature, but it's a nifty one at that. What do you guys think?

Huge proponent of this, especially with a PDA app

Essentially something like a job ticket, or notification board, where people can post updates on the post and mark them complete when they are finished or no longer relevant.

That's a great idea imo
Paired with PDA app, it would promote cooperation between departments greatly.
Chefs could send request lists to botanists, QMs could list all the ores they need to miners, docs could send medchem requests to scientists.
It is expected that many people will ignore this feature but it gives you something to do when you're bored

That's exactly the point - something to do when you're bored. It's a shared to-do list at worst, and at best it's a way to facilitate more complex inter/intra-departmental interaction without the distractions and forgetability of the radio.

100% for this. If the design is slick enough I bet'ya people like the cook and bartender will greatly care. The Captain might order his death-cocktail from the bridge and the clown can easily communicate that he wants some Honky-Tonic.
