Bees are awesome.

I noticed that Bombini's shuttle has honeycomb floors now, please let us make a bee-room out of this!

Some sort of method of bee/larva revival, they're genetically engineered, they probably have failsafes somewhere, it's just soulcrushing as the dickens to see a poor dead bee due to someone being dumb and clumsy and have no way of fixing the problem other than hiding the poor thing so morale doesn't dip too low. Probably easier to fix than dead crewmates, at any rate.

And suddenly the thread is back from the dead with another ~*bee idea*~

Which is: Botanists! They should have a chance to spawn with the Apisomething Metabolism gene activated, much like how miners can end up spawning as dwarves. At this point though we might as well have botanists have a chance to spawn as freakish(ly adorable) human/bee hybrids, whoops, cloning problems.

Yeah this seems like a good idea. I mean Chef has a chance of starting swedish, miners have a chance of being dwarves, I think there is another mutation that randomly happens too but I can't be sure. Anyway I think this would fit well.

I'm completely biased on this one, but this should totally be a thing.

Initrobeedril

Initropidril + Stuff = Initrobeedril

The victim's heart turns into a bee, then flies out of their mouth / through their ribcage.
(heart-shaped bee optional but preferable in case a less artistically-devoid person than me feels up to the task)

Yes yes yes. I would use this every chance I got.

It would bee even better if you can PLAY as the heart bee.

Minor space bee feature request: Please add "Bee Arthur" to the list of default bee names.

YES. Make it so when you get hit with Initrobeedril you get to be the bee that chestbursts you. Maybe make it so they can't sting though? I can just see the guy that did it getting stung to death before making a bee station.

With major props to Yeller Bill for giving me the idea, I say we add in a traitor botanist weapon... the Bee-Gun.

YellerBill from SomethingAwful Wrote:A bee-gun that automatically says bee-related puns when you pull the trigger

make it fire bees as homing missiles or something

The Bee Gun requires two types of ammunition. You need Bee Eggs, to actually supply the bees to fire, and you need honey to grow the bees into deadly weapons. The gun has three stats it tracks, amount of honey, amount of eggs, and BRFs. (Bees, Ready to Fire) When you load it with Eggs and Honey, it automatically begins slowly turning the eggs into BRFS. (I.E. when loaded, it slowly recharges like an advanced laser gun) Whenever you're ready to fire, you click on your victim, and the bee explodes out, stinger first, and mildly homes in on the target. When it hits, it deals knockback, stun, and a minor amount of brute damage to everyone around the victim as the bee explodes in a burst of gibs. It also deals a TON of toxin damage to the victim. And, every time you pull the trigger, you automatically say a Bee-Pun.

Stable mutagen + honey = chance to turn something alive into a bee.

Maybe throw in a bee keeping suit somewhere that's resistant to bees stings

This would take less effort then making a beekeeping job and it would be funny to watch someone attack the queen bee only to be attacked by every other bee.

Maybe even give traitor botanist a bee hive that can be thrown to spawn angry bees.

We're talking about the big fat adorable bees like Heisenbee here, their stings don't even hurt. A queen bee wouldn't particularly be useful here either since the whole "genetically engineered species" business means they're not particularly born, but made (You can make giant "queen" bees though, if you're clever.).
Genetically engineered doesn't mean made. It just means that their DNA has been messed with either after birth, or they are the offspring of such a bee.
