Normal view looks a lot brighter compared to viewport. Intended?

No. There is something wrong here. A while ago, I gave the AI Eye a larger vision overlay. The overlay looks to be missing completely from the second image.

Do you have the date and time(timezone) when this was taken? Also, are you perhaps not using widescreen mode?
