Make the Syndicate Engineer not fucking useless
#1
The combat engineer is a joke class. The class's weapon, get this, is a wrench with a slightly higher damage value. The single turret the class gets in its crate, its ONLY method of properly dealing damage, is made of tinfoil and shoots spitballs. Every other class outshines it. It doesn't have the attack power of the LMG or the Grenadier, the versatility of the Assault Trooper, the utility of the Infiltrator or Firebrand, and it CERTAINLY does not compare with the supportive power of the Combat Doctor.

Give them a Spacker! Buff the turret's health and damage! Give them a second turret! Let us repair the turret back from being rendered inoperable! Add a building for the engineer that slowly heals nuclear operatives! Something!

The combat engineer is objectively the worst class available to purchase, yet it has one of the most enticing gimmicks! Buff them so that they're not just some useless nerd with a 12tc pair of black pajamas and an automatic dart gun turret.

Id say give the engineer a device that can turn materials like metal sheets and glass sheets and cables into stuff. Also give the engineer a buffer stronger armor suit.

How about a machine that makes ammunition?

Some other equipment ideas:
  • Heavy duty crowbar: Can pry open powered doors
  • Two way teleporter: Just two beacons that are linked, and when active create a portal between them
  • Camera jammer: Creates a static field when deployed that blocks AI vision

And some existing stuff they could get
  • A powersink
  • Emp grenades
  • Metal foam grenades
  • A Signal Jammer

While its not a terrible class , I absolutely agree with some of these points. I feel like the turret is both the enticing part and the weak part of Syndicate engineer. Perhaps make it shutdown when it takes a lethal amount of damage and be out of play and unmovable for the next 2[?] minutes. Or until it recieve a 30 second[?] repair without interruptions. Maybe it could also use an ammo selection you can choose from when you deploy it. Armor piercing could shoot slower but have great damage against armor, Hollow points could be the current shooting speed and deal the current damage, maybe even a stun mode with rubber bullets.

And the wrench should function as a lesser omnitool, including crowbar, screwdriver, and wrench, while excluding wire cutter and multi tool. Using it in hand could rotate through these options. It should feel like a more unique tool if its the other half of the engineers main items.

See this is part of why nukies being the only militarized antag sucks, Combat Engineer would fit so much better for a more building-based antag but all we have in that regard is nuke ops so every cool idea gets pinned on them.
