Why do so many people scream on roundstart anyways?

This has been a thing for years and I'm kind of wondering how it began.

Many people will point back to the addition of nu-sound as the genesis of the roundstart scream but it actually goes back way farther than that. Anybody that spawned as a geneticist will remember screaming at the sight of another person next to your spawn.
Shortest answer I can give is it was the defacto roundstart greeting back then (since flipping wasn't a thing) and with the introduction of nu-sound you no longer needed somebody in sight for the "hello" scream

Replacing screams with a bunch of stock greeting sound files sounds like a fine mingim.

Also: This. and This.
