Trivial Trash Compactor works weird.
#1
Test 1
1.Take person and place them on top of Compactor via grab intent.
2.Close compactor.
3.Wait a long time for person to become cube.
4.Notice person survives certain gibbing.

Test 2
1.Drag click person to the open compactor.
2.Watch as compactor automatically closes and does its job.
3.TAUNT THE MEAT CUBE!

I feel like this is a feature honestly.  You can just jump in, shut it, claim it's safe, and offer to take the poor bastard for a ride.
Then taunt him.  Preferably before he dies so you can hear a scream.

seems like an emergent feature, but likely just an oversight.

apparently there is already a var for the owner of the cart to prevent them from being crunched, so you can do exactly as you described-
Code:
var/owner_ckey = null // owner of the crunchy cart, so they don't get crunched

sounds like:

Placing someone on the compactor by moving them onto it with grab intent movement, and then closing it manually, fails to process them. Dragging them on directly, however, works.

Compare this to a locker. You can drag someone onto the space of a locker, and it'll still be open. Then you can close the locker yourself. This is the one that fails to gib with the compactor.

You can also click-drag someone onto the locker, and they will be stuffed in (the locker opening if it isnt already) and the locker will close when this has been done.
