Destiny is a ship. It would make sense if there were a built in "life boat" to be safely jettisoned from the ship in case of emergency.
My thought is the entire front end of the ship -- medbay/security checkpoints becoming the aft and the aviary remaining the fore -- would become the escape shuttle.
What are your thoughts, concerns, or questions?

its cool, but wouldnt this "escape shuttle" then be much more vulnerable to terrorism and sabotage than the traditional escape shuttle, and need more tweaking to be compatible with certain traitor objectives, or do you guys just not have traitors and stuff over there, i dont visit very often

Typically there aren't antagonists. It would be open to tinkering but it would also be a larger area to influence.
Maybe add an airbridge connecting the lifeboat to the ship and increase transit time to Centcomm.
