Robusting Tips
#16
hide in bushes

always have disarm intent on

bringing a knife to a gun fight isn't a half bad idea if you're confident in your ability to rapidly dodge and heal yourself if you do get hit, and go to town on them with a knife as bleeding can be debilitating. even if you can get only a few swipes in, just keep chasing them and don't give any time to heal and you will see them begin to slow down from the blood loss.

before getting into a fight, if you are an antag, subvert the ai and get the borgs on your side or mindslave someone. 1 or 2 extra people or a bunch of cyborgs is better than just fighting by yourself.

if you're unarmed, run for a chair and do a chairflip to disarm your attacker. you recover a second faster than the person you flip into, giving you a second to steal the weapon

if you're concerned about enemies hiding in bushes, preemptively rig up mousetrap pipebombs and throw them into bushes.

to finish off your opponent, especially if they're out of stamina and laying out of the ground, you can throw them without improving your grab, so use this to throw them into windows or into a vending machine repeatedly 'till it falls on them

Learn to hack wires. Fabricators and vending machines usually have unique items available if you can hack them, such as .22 ammo from general manufacturers, and learning to hack a door is even more powerful. In particular by pulsing the "Main power" wire, prying open the door with a crowbar, than shutting the door with a crowbar and closing the maintenance panel you can seamlessly get into any location without leaving any evidence that the door was tampered with.

Because BYOND is silly, click on the enemy sprite even when they're far away because apparently it'll hit them anyway when they get somewhat close.

If this ever worked it does not anymore just letting people know

Saline-glucose and salicylic acid last a long time and can heal a lot of brute and burn, even while you're unconscious. The aspirin will keep you moving quickly even as you get beaten up, and the saline will take care of burn damage and all that blood you lose, even letting you survive shallow crit.

Meth is also fairly cheap and easy to get, whether from Robust-eeze, the shady bathroom attendant, or an on-the-ball chemist. If you didn't already know, shooting up meth through a hypospray wont roll addiction, as is the case with sleepypens, syringe guns, and, from what I can tell, patches, though the last one isn't nearly as effective. A hypo full of meth can keep you up and robust against anyone throwing around stuns, and if combined with the above half-assed regen-mix, you'll be pretty tricky to take down if you know what you're doing.

Want some melee practice? Roll a medborg and try to slap people with patches! The crew tends to forget that medborgs can heal them, so you'll end up needing to chase people down in order to put their skin back on. Use those situations to your advantage, practice your clicking and you'll find out just how far BYOND will stretch the definition of "melee range".

Speaking of borgs, a standard body with treads is pretty darn robust. It combines nearly-human speed with superhuman hitpoints and immunity to fire. Heavier borgs are tougher, but those extra hitpoints are very situational to be needed and you'll be too slow to hurt anyone! The botanyborg kit comes with a chainsaw that'll never break, as well as a watering can you can fill with phlogiston and ants.

As a borg, you only really need to fear lasers and, to an extent, tazers and flashes. Lasers will destroy you in just a few shots, and tazers will stun you like any old human. Flashes will also stun you, though if they're close enough to flash you, you're close enough to set them on fire. If you or the person who turned you on the crew has gotten rid of all those, congratulations!

If you can, don't fight alone.

another good borg tip is to make sure you don't have anything valuable in your 1st or 3rd inventory slot as those are your arms and i'm not sure if you can withdraw them back into your inventory if they're broken off. 2nd inventory slot is your chest and you should have your most important stuff (rcd, chainsaw, etc) there since if your chest breaking is less likely than getting an arm getting destroyed

Well if the chest gets destroyed it kills you anyways

That being said, I'm pretty sure I've been murdered by a torso before so yeah watch yourself out there.

Surprise pipe bombs are always good! If you're about to die (you're surrounded by a shit ton of angry people wanting your blood) just activate your pipe bomb, put it in your backpack, and get as close to as many people as you can. No one expects a suicide bombing. I think...

Well there is a message saying you put things into the bag but they might be to busy killing you to notice

Just trap your backpack with mousetrap pipebombs. They will try to loot your body and BOOM!

If it fits, put it into your pocket.
