See title. It's rare, but a pod with mining drills getting on the shuttle is basically a death sentence for everyone without a sleeper to hide in.

Just build a few grilles on-shuttle. Use them for cover. They can't be destroyed by drills.

I always have wirecutters when I got to the shuttle. And a heavy damage item.
