Roomba-like atmosphere filtering small bot
#1
As in the title; Basically a small bot you can construct. Unlocked by engineering ID. Click on it while unlocked to get an interface to configure what gasses it cares about.

Drag it to a gassed area and turn it on, and it'll follow its settings, roaming around the area near where it was turned on and collecting gasses, then when its reservoir is full, it goes to the nearest (in view) unobstructed floor scrubber, portable scrubber, or space tile in that order, and injects its gas load. It then continues on in this vein until given different orders or turned off. If there are no nearby gasses that it's set up to suck, it'll just sit there and idle. (unless set to patrol station, I guess)

You can additionally wrench it to a connector, which will cause it to operate in stationary scrubber/syphon mode instead of roaming.

Additional suggestion: Emagging could make the bot operate in reverse, finding appropriate canisters to its settings and spewing its payload across the station.

Setting it from suck, to blow, in essence. /spaceballs reference

dealing with bad gases is a chore unless youre willing to put a hole in the floor, anything that would help with that is good in my book.

making a mini-bot that is intelligent enough to spew plasma canisters for you, though, thats too much, and also robs players of the joy of manually setting fires.

perhaps it could emit smoke or bad stink if emagged instead

Fart gas?

emagging it makes it think oxygen is a deadly gas and it gets hard at work draining it asap

Yeah that probably works better.

This is a good suggestion.

Anything that helps filter out bad gas would be very helpful. Also sounds like another thing I could put a hat on. I like putting hats on things.

Hmm. If this got implemented then I'd like the ability to direct it to beacons with my engineering PDA. Because we all know how well this works with other critters. Still, it'd be nice to send it into the n2o zone without actually having to wander into the killing field.

Could be made by putting an arm onto an Atmos scrubber somehow?

Needs an adorable sprite, maybe some tanks and a tank valve with legs.

Don't air scrubbers do exactly this anyway, except better since they have an apparently infinite capacity? There's not much point to having a moving one, since gas physics guarantee a stationary one works just as well. And if it has a limited capacity, then it'll be worthless anyway - air siphons are surprisingly useless at de-gassing rooms, since they don't hold nearly enough gas to do it effectively.

Actually, gas physics in game ensures that stationary scrubbers aren't very effective at this. They'll empty their own square of the offending gas, causing some more to fill in from the adjacent squares and so on, reducing the concentration but they take ages to actually get rid of all the gas.

This little thing would ideally be used in conjunction with a scrubber, so you can plop one of these in a room with a scrubber (or with a scrubber outside, if you don't want to walk into a plasma fire for example) and it will go around collecting the small amounts of left over gas that would otherwise require you to go hauling your scrubber all over the room for 5 to 10 minutes to clear out.

It oughta take the gasses it filters and inflate balloons with them.
