Suggestion for magical items
#1
Thanks to updates in the arc smelting and constructing system, it is now possible to make a myriad of magical items, however, magical items don't really have much to them as of yet, which is why I propose we add a nethack style of magic to it, upon creation, any magical item has a chance to be + stats, -stats, blessed, cursed, or neither. The additional stats just make it mildly better, and, once scanned in the machine, makes whatever the item is show up as a +x or -x item. In addition, if it is blessed it may either have no upgrade, allow one one of several abilities (stamina regen, health regen, does x damage type, resists x type of damage slightly, occasionally has a chance to set someone on fire, has a chance to cause a lightening bolt, levitation (mostly useless), things that sound very useful but in reality are quite marginally useless in 90% of cases (that +3 blessed labcoat of flame is probably not going to help you much), however, in the opposite, a cursed item can really cause issues, for example, welding itself to your skin causing burn damage and needing a priest to get it off of you, as well as causing burn damage, causing fumbling (you randomly drop shit), causing stumbling (you randomly trip and hit your head), illuminating (causes everybody to be aware of your presence (you can be seen through walls and in blindspots by literally anyone anywhere) as well as possibly toxic gear or electric attracting gear (you have a greater chance to randomly be struck by lightning...). This would add a whole nother level to magical items and make them one of a wide variety of cool or terrible items, as well as making holy water actually useful as a recepie and making the chaplain needed to help uncurse nerds who are trapped in shit gear and to randomly make blessed items throughout the station. This also would increase the nerd level on station by a factor of 10.

TL;DR: Blessed and cursed items should be a thing.

Even better is that this, in theory, could allow chaplains to get a traitor item flask of "Unholy Water" that curses items, so you can go around and curse a bunch of insulated gloves, leave them out, and watch as everybody starts dropping shit everywhere, or you could curse the janitors galoshes and watch as people start stumbling everywhere.
