I don't think inconveniencing a gimmick job and one only a few people can even access is a sufficient reason for removing these tbh

Then the HoS makes sure his folks don't set up a portable flasher, I guess?

It's not like the things don't explicitly tell you how to become virtually invisible to them when examined.

I learned to walk by them playing on tgstation servers.

They still aren't very fun.

Why not just give HOS and Detective a spare pair of shades. Then detective can make his sunglasses crime scene puns and HOS can hide his poker-face during interrogations.

Also Detective and HOS are both kinda not immune to carried flashes either. you would think they would learn about thermals sucking against flashes of any kind. If I see a detective or HOS wearing thermals as a traitor I know for a fact they can get flashed really easily. Steal a pair of handcuffs from somewhere and you now have a way to take down the HOS ninja quick.

As a guy who used to use them alot and liked them for their effectiveness.

I don't feel they are needed. Portable flashers are great for stopping grey-tidey stuff and we just don't have that kind of problem on our servers anymore. We have a few shitty dudes, but not the epidemic that we even had to a limited extent on Shroom.

A change I'd suggest is start them in the Armory. Alot of bad officers hook them up for 'reasons' and I regularly find myself yelling at them and unhooking them myself.

Take away the portable flashers and re-add the wall-mounted flashes in the brig. (Maybe add one to the sec lobby, too)

How about some kind of ID card detector on the flashers so they don't go off when they see someone wearing an approved ID?

Wall mounters are Marquesas stuck on a wall?! No wonder why i never liked them.....I alway felt a strong sense of hate and destruction from them....Mostly aimed at me

But in all seriousness brig is already hard to escape as is....no need to add a way for security to stun everyone in a room with a button...if you want that arm a flashbang on and throw it in

No please not wall mounts. On other servers they just encourage sadistic security.

I can see why portable flashers would be a total pain in the ass for hos' and detectives and anybody who wishes to be around security and not wear shades 24/7. It's not fun either switching from a run to a walk every single time. A fix for this would be:

That said I can see why officers may want them around security, security can be over-run sometimes, and that can be a bit hectic if you've nabbed a traitor. I feel like portable flashers should only work in the vicinity of security, their uses are to make security.. well. secure. IMO portable flashers should not be able to work if brought outside the region of sec/brig area.

These things are absolutely awful.

Most of the time they're only used by overly paranoid security officers. I have not been playing HoS as much lately due to these. It seems like every time a robust gun fight happens in sec has been cut short by these flashers either because
The antagonist or certain security members get stunned by them.

So please lets send these things back to the dark depths from which they came
