My suggestion is that if a wendigo looks you into the eye -The sassy wendigo stares into erza sauters soul....god it eyes are so Yellow"....and survive its consuming you that you have a chance to become a wendigo where it kicks you out of your body after a little bit and you charater starts walking around trying to bite people....Over time it will transform into a full wendigo


That or if you consume too much human meat


To cure you/regain your body the chaplen has to beat you with a bible a bunch of times to drive out the evil spirts
