like the name says, if you're standing on top of a portal/next to it you should be able to double click it to go through
mainly this is for when telescience/teleporter accidents send you to the middle of a wall/asteroid

Yeah, I could see this being handy for when people get stuck in walls or asteroids or whatever, sure.

I remember when a bunch of people walked into a portal only to realize the portal was in a wall and could not be reentered.
Those people (including me) had to hang out using up their oxygen tanks until they started dying off or committing suicide. I don't recall if they were rescued, as I jumped into space rather than give up, but I'm pretty sure at least one person was murdered. Yes to double click to use portal.
