Make all handheld electronic items cell powered
#1
Tasers, batons, flashlights, T-ray scanners, the works. Then you can remove all the rechargers on the station and replace them with cell chargers instead. This has the advantage of making energy using things universal, and also makes artifact batteries and the higher tech craftable cells a lot more valuable. Likewise, it means that, say, a security officer, could recharge his taser or baton in the field, and you could also plant guns with rigged power cells and stuff somewhere where a greyshirt would pick them up.

Also, in a bad situation, where the station is all fucked up, you could scavenge cells from dead APCs, or the stuff of dead people, to keep your things going.

sure, but you should have to heavily modify guns and things to accept high capacity cells

having the captain waddle over to EVA 2 minutes into the round and upgrade his energy gun with a 15000 unit cell seems like it's too easy

I think this is one of those that seems like a good idea on the surface, but in application wouldn't be fun, and fun is the most important thing.

That said being able to add cells to things, and the charge on them effect a power increase would be fun, I attached an artifact battery to a flash and was disappointed it didn't instagib the monkey I stested it on.

It wouldn't be that hard to tweak the energy consumption of various objects to ensure that by default they have the same amount of uses they do now by default.

Maybe if instead of the larger power cells they ran off of smaller batteries. I always thought power cells were supposed to be fairly large (cellphone-size or so), which wouldn't really fit in some of the smaller handheld items. That way you also wouldn't run into problems with availability (where anything under 15000 could be easily upgraded by any cell laying around, and anything over is fairly rare to see).

...until he gets blown the fuck up because some jerk filled all the power cells with plasma!

Oh dear god, I can see the implications with artifact power cells.

So basically, this is a great idea and will give traitors a new way to murder everyone.

I approve.
Perhaps buying batterys from QM would be a new thing?

Pubbie Mcshitter looks dumbfounded as the taser explodes in his hand!

What if you make it like how stun gloves are? You recharge them by whacking them with a power cell; so what if you do the same for your tasers, phasers, and eguns? Heck, right now when you examine them, they say stuff like: "This is a taser! It has 200/200 PUs! Each shot takes 50 PUs."

So in other words, everytime you recharge your taser, it would take that much power from the cell. The consumption could be tweaked so that its not like a 15k cell will last you an entire round, too.

The idea is to make getting better cells valuable AND allow people to plant rigged guns, batons, etc around the station.

I like this idea but I can see people keeping a back pack full of power cells and spamming the shit out of the Amp vuvuzela, or Eguns. I love shoot outs but when I'm in a shoot out I try to count how many shots they are taking so I know when they can't shoot back.

I think more uses for the power cells is a great idea. I've always thought you should be able to "reload" tasers and eguns with a power cell.
