A couple of years back some coder made a prototype AI that could move around on a rail, like gertie from the Moon movie.
How about moving the AI to a shell in the bridge. It would start in a little closet and be able to move around the room. Its defense turrets could move on the rail too.
The bridge is usually just the place of gunfights, this could make it see more use. It would be less fortified than the AI core, but the proximity with security and the chance of a head coming by or a random interloper could provide a different kind of protection.

Let the AI move it's core with turrets around the Bridge/Security area and dish out laser justice to anyone caught breaking in. That would be funny as hell but I dunno if this would ever happen. I'd love to see the AI core just zooming around like that and the only way to stop it is to turn off it's rail power.

Conversely, tie your victims to the rails and give the AI the go-ahead.

This was literally the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread.
Alternatively, emag the Ai's rail system and send it uncontrollably hurtling down hallways slamming into assistants as it screams for help.

I like this. It would be great if the thing has some robot arms that could interact with things physically. That way they AI could do things like start the engine or drag people to medbay.
In fact, multiple rails with different devices that could be placed on them would be amazing. Little old person chairs for a lazy fat captain, minecarts for ores and miners to ride in, motion detectors or gates for setting up checkpoints and barricades, moving cameras or guns for the AI, a new alternative to mulebots for qm to send goods around.

if this is done then people should be able to ride the AI
looking forward to when an enterprising traitor uploads a one-human law and then grabs his red chainsaw and does battle atop his noble electronic steed

yes. YES!
Also people should be able to construct/deconstruct the rails so the ai could be able to traverse the whole station with a little bit of effort. Plus, TRAINS.

This is still a good idea, I'm bumping this thread.
