Dealing with Harassers

For the entirety of my experience on goon I've had to deal with asshat harassers, many of them non-antag. And because of this i want to know, how can you deal with people that are harassing you without getting teleported to the admin prison and swiftly receiving a ban for restraining, hurting, or evicting them because security is not doing anything. Share your ways and ideas for future use of all.

Pretty sure the rule of thumb is, If you are being attacked you can defend yourself just don't go crazy and kill them unless they were trying to kill you? Although I'm not sure how to figure out if they are trying to kill you cause usually you don't know that. I dunno. My way of doing it is if someone is being a dick just beat them up or stun them and then run away. If they keep coming after you go ahead and do something more permanent? Also always remember you can adminhelp if you think you are being griefed. We don't take too kindly to griefers.

most of the time i assume that when people run in to my workplace trying to shove me down they are trying to kill me. I've learned through multiple bans that that is not the case.... most of the time. however often i have no access to any kind of stun weapon other than my fists and a fire extinguisher. That tends to lead to the banning.

Generally, if they're using disarm (trying to push you down), they're probably just trying to fart on your face, not kill you.

See, I was being a dick and harrassing people and got rightly banned for it (haven't done it since) but before I got banned, I got killed once or twice without reporting it, because I knew it was justified to murder me. Now some people may be different, and complain to the admins since they don't realize they are being a outright nuisance and think they're justified. If someone is harrassing me and genuinely keeps at it I would usually kill them too, or atleast strip and then disposal them. More leaning towards kill if they're consistently trying to harm me.It usually doesn't result in admin intervention. (Also why I got banned was because I kept forcefeeding people stable mutagen pills. Not cool, I know. Sorry.)

Only react if they do it consistently, or if it's direct harm. If it's just consistent stuff, just beat' em down, choke em, and disposal them. Or strip them. If it's consistent harm, usually I choke them and suplex them until they die.

Interesting, but what about just general nuisances, nothing sever, like the captain running in and constantly pushing you down and farting on your face, all the while invading on your work (eg, botany, genetics). I've tried your mentioned methods on said people... bans happen. And the fuckers get away with it! It annoys me more than people who frame you for attacking them. Hate it. Loathe it so much...

I generally give them a warning if they start doing that shit. a kick out the door would work. If the persist, flash them. If they keep persisting, flash and cuff them. if they still keep persisting, then they are stupid and you should flash them and take their id for breaking in 5 times in a row. make sure to say that you're doing that because of breaking in too.

Flashes are distributed around the station if you know where to look. Though if you REALLY have to you can just stuff the guy in a disposal chute, when they inevitably try to get out, use that stun time to chuck them out the door. Really though, anything not too damaging but can still stun is useful for dealing with them.
Examples:
Flashes
Disposal chutes
Pushing them over
Etc.

I've never got in trouble for flashing someone and/or beating the tar out of them, dragging them out of my department, and warning them to cut it out. If they're consistently harassing you, call security (they rarely have anything better to do) or adminhelp, depending on the severity and the duration.

Being an asshole for just one round isn't usually a bannable offense, though. Hell, the last time I had someone harassing me, it was because they had the "annoy someone so much they kill you" miscreant objective. Might very well have pulled it off too, except that I was a sec officer and it's risky to abuse or murder people as sec.

I've found about 50% of the crew will stop and talk with you if you strike up a conversation regardless of the subject.

For the other half I would say run next to a disposal unit, click the disposal unit to open up it's menu, then when the offender runs up to you drag and drop them into the trash and quickly flush it before they can get out (gotta be quick once they are in there).

If it's the same person for the millionth time or they are an obvious non-antagonist beating you to critical and beyond then by all means adminhelp it...you would be doing us all a service.

And then right after you were banned you hopped on the other server where I had to deal with you doing what was essentially the exact same thing. Some guy ran in and simply tried to disarm you and then you began to yell about how he was trying to 'kill' you when all he ever did was disarm you. Eventually he just tasered you and left you to be until you recovered and began to attack him with a chainsaw. We've had to deal with you ten times in one month. Ten times in one month, think about this please.

A) Was your superior, if you really give a shit about those things.
B) Had access in the first place.
C) ..and most importantly had a locker full of dead bodies, which you I had to clone because you were too busy playing on the adjacent genetek
