With the fancy new sheet press and arc smelter, you can make metal things with other minerals. However...
Once you add plating to a custom girder, it turns into a regular wall, and when deconstructed it's regular metal.
I don't know if this works for glass and pharosium as well but if so engineering is either got a bug or made of alchemy.
Same problem with chairs. Fold chairs to create regular metal chairs. No more fun named metals or transparent ghost chairs.

You can't use bars and sheets from the arc smelter in general manufacturers.
Folded chairs lose their material.
will add more when found

Taking sheets from a pile of smelted sheets gives you plain metal.

Walls from special metals lose material.
Anything made out of special metal gives plain metal when disassembled.

Hey there!
Thanks for the reports but don't bother with them yet.
The system is not functional yet and the smelter basically just exists to make testing for me easier and maybe as a small teaser.
