I dreamed about an alternate wizard spawn
#1
Crossposting from goonthread:

Been weeks since I've played due to a shitty computer situation, but I dreamed of SS13 last night.

I was a Wizard, and I had a bunch of spells, but was trapped on the Arrivals shuttle due to an unusual placement of those non-destroyable shuttle blocks. I used the diagonal movement exploit (a thing that exist) to get through most of them until I guess an admin deleted them? Then I went on fireballing the crew, except the spell had been renamed to "Lazy Uncreative Asshole Ball". Then after people fought back I teleported back to the Wizard's den...which instead of a shuttle, was a crystal-themed derelict, with monsters roaming the halls outside of the safe wizard's area.

I am such a god damn nerd

Captain Bravo:

From the weirdest dream... comes the greatest thing.

Seriously, can we make this a thing? Move the wizard's room onto a big derelict, and give him some shutters he can activate from inside. So if the wizard wants to adventure and fireball some monsters (If they ever fix fireball to let it target mobs...) he totally can do that. Or if someone wants to try and break into the wizard den and steal some robes, they can do that. But anyone just trying to zip over and attack the wizard at home is going to have to deal with mobs, and will still probably get stonewalled at the end by a closed pair of shutters.

Nakar:

It would actually be interesting to give the crew an alternate win condition to Wizard mode by invading the wizard's dungeon and destroying his crystal ball or phylactery or spellbook or whatever the hell grants him his powers.

Heck, make it a spellbook they can burn, let the wizard change his spells out whenever he wants to at his spellbook (subject to a limit on spells he can know at any one time), and make teleportation free but on a cooldown. The wizard gets a mystical warning if any adventurers set foot in his dungeon, so he can choose whether to keep at his mission or teleport back home to defend his spellbook with his monsters, traps, and of course his own powers. And the wizard is immune to all of these things because he's the dungeon master because of course he is.

Maybe have a separate, sealed-off section full of monsters hostile even to the wizard that's full of goodies, so if the wizard wishes to try his luck he can or the crew can invade even on non-wizard rounds to try to get at some Space Wizard Federation artifacts.

Posting this shit here for more cool wizard ideas and rad pics of wizards doing cool stuff

Have two dungeons on the derelict. One for the crew to come in and try to kill the magic nerd book and another deeper dungeon for the wizards to fuck around in. The inner dungeon for the wizards would have to contain some sort of mythical items he/she can use on the crew. Like crystal balls and cooler staff skins! Have the crew dungeon contain swords, ropes, and other medieval shit for fun! Both dungeons get a boss guarding a super item of some sort.

give the wizard a spell to send some monsters to the station (and also make them non-hostile to him)

when the monsters arrive, they come through a portal. (that'd last about as long as a hand tele portal if not longer)although normally the crew can't go through the portal, every monster they kill should drop bones or something, and once a crew member has enough bones, he can go through the portal because it thinks he's a monster or something IDK

Ok, here's my idea, trying to knit together the best ideas I've seen (and suggested v) into one, cohesive suggestion:

Stick the Wizard Shuttle on a new Z-level, maybe somewhere out in the Centcom area. Have it docked inside a giant dungeon, which is filled with monsters and loot. Give the dungeon two wings, Wing A with monsters which are non-aggressive to Wizards, and Wing B with yetis and martians and dragons that will attack and kill anyone and everyone. Have the hub between the two areas contain the entrance to the wizard shuttle, (With shutters, so the wizard can prevent some jackass from camping his bed) some device to allow people to return to the station, and a unique trader named "Tucker the Kobold" who sells a few mundane medieval items, as well as super-expensive "Magic Swords" and "Enchanted Shields". (Magic Swords are reskinned C-Sabers which can't be turned off and have reduced stun percentages, Enchanted Shields reflect projectiles when held in your hand.)

When a Wizard attacks the station, and corrupts it, areas that have been corrupted have a chance to spawn portals into the dungeon, which will spit out a couple mobs from Wing A. If a crewmember managed to make it to an open portal (They only stay open while spitting out mobs, which takes about 15 seconds), they can jump through and get randomly dropped into areas of Wing A. If they survive long enough to make it to the hub, they can buy gear, return to the station, challenge the wizard, or take on the tougher wing of the dungeon. The end of Wing B contains a Treasure Chest (Reskinned Crate) filled with gold bars, golden plate armor, and a golden crown.

There should also probably be some (long and difficult) method of reaching the dungeon, maybe make it a teleport destination on the void teleporter, or give it a hidden entrance deep within the ice or lava planet. That way, if someone really wants to try for that crown, they can give it a shot even on a non-wizard round. Or if the wizard doesn't want to use corruption, or the adventurer just wants to try for the sure thing, they can have an alternate path there.

This would be cool if wizard also had a wizard dungeon he could put people in. Kinda like that room the admins stuck several people in that replaced the AI's little wing one round.

Instead of just cluwning people, some poor sap gets hit with magic and gets stuck in some dungeon never to be heard from again unless the crew goes on a good old fashioned book burning.

Alternatively a cool wizard might try and turn the dungeon into a party room.

Just make the door one of those wooden doors but lock it so it needs a skeleton key to open that only the wizard would have.

Wizard gets a new spell: Dungeon keeper. He can teleport 3 people into the dungeon. If they survive then they can escape. Wiz can push buttons to spawn things.

Cool idea, but the problem is, in rounds where there's one wizard, he and the 3 people would be having fun...while the rest of the crew is being bored on the station, having to come up with their own things to do. Or create world peace and shit *yawn*.

Just give the wizard a pda that alerts him as to what rooms a person is in the dungeon along with controls on the pda to activate traps and such. Then when he has some downtime he can easily check how far the three people are.

I like the idea of maybe having a wizard dungeon with various critters and monsters that the wizard could summon/teleport onto the station. But the more critters he brings to the station, the fewer he has to protect his lair.

If we ever do decide to do the explorable wizard dungeon, what if we replace the precursor ruins with it?

The method to getting in is still the same, you need to fight your way through the ice caverns and do a little semi-secret thing to get your butt teleported over. Once you're in, you can explore, fight the skeletons, and be the medieval space hero you always wanted to be.

Alternatively, the caverns under the catacombs would work nicely too, I suppose.

I request a wizard space car and it should have an active SEED on at all times but it never explodes it just smashes through shit. Can you imagine riding that bitching car into chemistry in the beginning of a round with like a really cool metal song playing or some kind of horn blowing? Now that is what I call a bad ass space wizard.
