Remove the suicide verb from the AI

Yeah I know, that's what I'm saying. Why take the brain out to kill an AI if another one is going to spawn in? Cogwerks shot down letting people spawn in as cyborgs if there was a frame available because it'd make it hard to accomplish traitor objectives so how is this any different?

The point *is* valid. Perhaps, then it must be dead but with the brain still in. Also new AI cores would also spawn with an 'empty' brain inside.

That makes sense. If the brain has to be inside the AI core in order for it to be valid for spawning new AI's, then it's a good idea.

What on earth? I figured that would be obvious. No brain, no new AI. AI suicides because they have to leave / don't want to be AI? Cool, nobody really likes having the AI around anyways, and a new one can show up later as long as nobody's taken any steps to prevent it. Like tearing out a critical part of the construct.

It was obvious. v
The question remains: Could you install a new brain into the AI if you didn't wish to wait until a new player arrives?

Perhaps. I dunno. What happens currently if you add a new brain into a brain-thefted AI? I thought it already did a thing.

Yeah I think it does but don't quote me on that.

Ok cool, this is actually a neat idea then. I don't like that there will be an announcement telling you that the AI has been killed though.

Cogwerks Wrote:2) a thing to have the AI's suicide verb kick out a command alert about the AI hibernating / going into power-saving mode / bluescreening
Its when the AI suicides. Not when murdered.
Its basically to stop suicide laws happening because they won't do anything to permanently shut down the AI anymore. But instead there is the shut down AI from the robotics control computer or whatever its called.
So you just need to go into a different room and press a different button to achieve the same effect.

It won't stop suicide laws, they'd still be fairly useful, they'll just attract more attention. It won't say exactly WHY the AI has gone into bluescreen, but it'll attract some attention and possibly an investigation.

I can't really think of any good reasons to temporarily remove the AI and draw a whole lot of attention to the upload,
but I'm sure someone will think of something.
Would be a distraction and a clean memory wipe of the AI at least. Which pretty sounds good now that I think about it.
Sucks for the AI that was put out of the game, but they'll just have to deal with it. Probably be dead anyway.

Well for one I can see a suicide law being good for a rogue AI. I mean it kills it's self and then we can get a new one. Also maybe just to draw attention to the AI while someone is sneaking around. Seems okay to me I think.

Sundance Wrote:I agree with the sentiment, but like someone kinda said already, you obey all of the laws.
If they couldn't make you suicide, they'd just make a law that you should deactivate your turrets around your core so you'd still be equally fucked.

If anything AI's module room could do with a re-shuffling. The freeform and other nefarious modules should be separated put behind another turret/room so the AI could keep the turret on/bolt it for law 1 or 2.

inb4 fun: Turning the AI against the crew should be DIFFICULT and by making it difficult it's far more SATISFYING when you manage it.
Typically corrupting the AI ends with the AI either too incompetent to help you, being a dick and finding every opportunity to not help you, or simply unable to help you because AI/Borg has very little to directly harm the crew.

Since it's already fairly hard to change laws against a competent AI/crew, it definitely needs more rewards if it's harder. Maybe if guard buddies could go rogue and fire tranquilizer darts or something at the crew, or something to that effect, it'd make more sense. But since you'll typically just get a few assistants stuck on the air bridge, it's fine where it is.

I don't see a reason to get rid of suicide laws. They are very annoying if you're a Borg or AI, it's not like it happens every round or is overtly abused. Plus a good AI can lock most would-be uploaders out of the upload.

Also, as a traitor, a rogue AI is far more useful than a dead AI. Far smarter to upload a "follow my commands" law and then order a mass suicide later, at your convenience.

No I never have and I never will. I think suicide laws are lazy. I meant I can see the idea being good for that with letting another person come and take over the AI.
