Goon servers you play: I play both on classic and rp, it kinda depends on my mood. If I want MAYHEM AND ACTION, I play classic, if I want a more chill and deduction-focused, I play on rp. They are both great places to play, and offer different experiences. Sec on classic is often fucking intense, while rp sec is usually (usually being a load-bearing word here) chill by comparison.

Reason for application: I’d like to help Sec cooperate a bit better. As in, try to get people to follow certain leads, investigate forensics, bring people in for searching etc. And also serve as an example of what a good security officer is.

Security experience (300 word minimum):
I’ve been playing on and off for a long time. I’ve clocked about 263 hours on my current account. I had another one when I started playing in 2011 or 2012, but those credentials are long lost. I’ve been playing mostly security and medical, with security clocking probably more. I play AI too. But yeah, I’ve been playing for a long time, although I take long breaks every now and then.

I know forensics, how the gear works, I know secmate. I can and do teach these to others, although the opportunities are rare nowadays. More importantly, I know to not take the game TOO seriously. That being said, you have to take the job seriously enough, as if you just smoke weed at the bar and let the antags rampage round after round, that also gets very old very quick.

When it comes to playing Security and what’s a healthy mindset, I think you need to split RP and Classic to be separate. On Classic, the round often becomes this “cops and robbers” type game that can get VERY intense. It often involves the Security either “winning” the antags and the crew getting alive to CENTCOMM, or “losing” and everyone dying. Also it’s always a coin flip if the shuttle just explodes or not, lmao. For Security, it’s often very hard to “win” as security on Classic. (That is, foiling the antags, their schemes, protecting the crew and neutralizing rampagers.) However, more importantly, having fun is much easier than “winning” and is something to savor when playing on Classic. Getting owned by antags can be just as fun and often much more fun than winning against them. Usually, if an antag has a novel plan, it’s more fun to “lose” than “win.” I have snuck several examples of these types of things into my application as those are very memorable for me.

For RP, I’ve come to love the more chill playstyle. For 30 pop Classic will have like 4-6 antags who are very high energy and a constant menace, when RP will have 2 often more laid-back antags. It’s a great place to enjoy the more forensics-heavy play that doesn’t see as much usage in Classic due to time constraints and constant criming. You get to interrogate suspects and everything, and even just chill out on a particularly slow round. It’s a great place to go to “rest” when the Classic chaos feels too daunting. I’ve also come to the conclusion that that on RP antags need more leeway due to their smaller numbers.

Answer two or more of the following:
What advice would you give to other sec players?
Label all your gear! WHEN you get mugged and all your shit gets stolen and spread around the station and your co-worker finds it, it’ll more likely and quickly end up back in your possession. For example, if Goober the Janitor finds your taser, they can just call you on radio directly and you’ll have your taser back, instead of going through the normal motions of bringing it to sec and then a secoff needing to ask or remember whose taser was stolen. Also if you have a forensic scanner, take a clipboard. It’s easy to print a paper and just slap it in there!

Also, play secoffs on classic! You don’t have to “win”! It’s fun to get fucked up by antags in hilarious ways. For example in a recent round the HOS executed someone’s dog for fun, and then an antag killed the entire sec team me included by taking full microbomb implants and farting on a bible next to us. Kaboom! We all laughed until our sides hurt!

Also, there’s a PDA app that allows you to control the securitrons. If you find yourself understaffed, I would not hesitate to use them. Especially if you play on classic and you are getting greytided, put the flashers on strategic chokepoints and set beepsky to lockdown sec. It wont stop antags, but it’s great to get sec under control from staffies/clowns. Don’t put the securitrons to lockdown sec or any other area lightly though. It’s mostly for classic when you’re the lone officer and/or under siege by staff assistants and their clown warlord.

What was one of your favorite security moments? (Either playing as a sec officer or interacting with one)

The ones where I get owned hard by the antags in amusing ways. Such as once on classic I was just hanging around, and suddenly I am teleported into a spaceship with sleepygas. Then an antag comes in later, but accidentally removes their internals and falls asleep next to me. There we laid together for a good 15 mins or so before someone found us.

Fun ones are also when an antag is difficult but security prevails in the end. The good struggles are often entertaining content creators for the entire station. I don’t really mind if I “win” or “lose”, the content is what makes it fun.

Another one was an RP round on 21st February 2026, when a fellow officer (Mitchell, don’t remember the last name unfortunately) was spotted in Engineering, getting killed. The NanoTrasen security consultant tells me to go get the officer. There they were, Mitchell, in full bio-hood and with a weird canister. I don’t remember what I said, but I tried to approach them to stun them, and they just said “Talk to the canister first” and they opened the can, releasing gassy fallout. I retreated to put on internals, and then charged through the cloud to apprehend them. Big mistake. I managed to stun them, but I was too fucked up by the fallout to even remove their bio-hood. They then recovered, grabbed me and turns out they were a ling and ate me. Shit like this is hilarious. I then chatted with Mitchell on hivechat. The ling went super Saiyan on the shuttle and was burned to death, rip.

There’s just so many, many good memories, and many of them aren’t fun enough to be entertaining if written here. You know, like something funny happened and it’s funny if you’re there but your friends wont laugh if you retell the story. SS13 is a lot of situational comedy, and Security is often in the middle of it.

What game improvements or changes do you think would benefit security players?

Better tools to increase situational awareness. The briefly tested new ui back in 2024 I think with more customizable text highlights was a godsend. Sometimes when the clownshit really hits the fan, it can be hard to figure out what’s going on. Sadly it apparently lagged the fuck out of the game and was scrapped.
Describe any differences in your playstyle when part of a full security team and when being the only security officer.
When I am alone on Classic, I utilize securitrons and the AI more. On classic, I might put a securitron to guard Security, as it’s not good for the round if Sec gets looted too easily. In general I have to be much more careful, and a bit harsher towards antags. When we have several secoffs, this is not usually necessary, as there is ample backup.

On RP, security is much better staffed usually than on classic. I dont remember ever being lone secoff on rp basically ever. There I’m more chill, especially when the round is still fresh. On 30 pop there’s usually just 2 antags, so you definitely don’t want to clip their wings too harshly if they make a dumb mistake 10 minutes in or else it’ll probably be a boring-ass round. Also you almost never need to put securitrons to sec there as there’s basically no greytiding on RP.

Answer one or more of the following fun questions (because it's important for the HoS to be fun):

What's a security gimmick that you've ran or wanted to run?

On a slow round: Clown vs security wrestling match. It’s funny, AND good practice. It doesn’t count, but roughly two years ago I was Captain and we did a Captain vs Clown fencing match, and everyone laughed as the clown beat my ass unconscious with their clown hammer or w/e it was while I had my sabre. The squeaky hammer noises are still playing in my head as I write this.

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will):
To the best of my knowledge, I don’t think I’ve ever received a ban or jobban. Like 15 yrs ago when I played SS13, I was gibbed as AI by then-admin popecrunch for being a shitty AI. (They put a lot of explosives in the ai satellite and detonated, lmao.) I don’t even remember what I did, but I was pretty new. Sadly, I lost those account credentials ages ago. I don’t think I’ve received any penalties or warnings with my new account, but please check, and if I’m wrong then it’s an honest mistake.

Finally, I'd like to say that I do appreciate feedback. If you think I've done something well or if I've been shitty to someone, I'd like to hear it. smile If you read everything I wrote, thanks and sorry!

Post scriptum:
I almost didn't post this. Idk why I've been shying about this, I decided to not post 2 years ago. But now I internalized that the worst thing that can happen is that it'll just get denied and I can try again later. smile

I hope someone remembers me from before the break, but even if not, I'll try to play more rounds so people get the chance to play with me and consider me. Also, I'm European so if you play US afternoons you will likely not ever see me since I must maintain a certain schedule to not get fired, heh.
