I agree a bit, yeah. Though, putting this on feedback just in case if it is a bug or will lead to more jank and buggy stuff.

Technically, changeling could always get other antag powers via headspider, if anything, old changeling could headspider an antag and permanently keep their powers, with the body transfer testmerged, if you eat an antag, you get their powers, but if you eat a new person, you lose their powers, as powers are based on body.

A big part of changeling is keeping items from your victims to keep disguises and tools ready. This system just makes the absorption process feel clunkier as suddenly my inventory gets undone all just so I can wear their clothes. I already have to strip my body to get my stuff back, how is this any different from having to strip the body I absorbed to get their ID or belt? Maybe this is useful for the "casually absorb a body and move on like nothing happened" situations but those are rarer than the times you've secluded someone away for the kill. Overall, I don't know what this change fixes and it just adds an extra step to the process that doesn't help me move on from the body faster

Had a round of ling myself this change has brought so many bugs and while I like the idea of being able to just slip in and out of a corpse instantly leaving behind a potentially compromised Identity I think if something like this should be included it needs to be a toggle ability, so I can choose when I want to swap bodies, I think that would make the change more appealing having control over if and when it happens, for now I've unticked changeling from my antag list.
I do like that the changeling can now potentially get other antag powers if it takes their identity it adds a little extra distinction and flair to their gimmick and potentially makes them a woefully lethal opponent of varying flavours adding a chance for some really unexpected and entertaining combinations where people might assume they only have one set of abilities.

While I like it I do feel it would be better if it was something you could toggle.

It really should be a toggle or popup asking if you want to swap bodies

After playing with this for two changeling rounds, really going to agree with the consensus of this should be a toggle. It makes any roleplay where you want to roleplay around a single character as a changeling incredibly difficult as now you're spending twice the amount of time just stripping a corpse.
Also when eating a dead corpse you now have a deathgasp sound effect from your old character dying, unsure how to feel about this. Though honestly the actual issue here may just be that a lot of sound effects reach too far

As everyone said. Toggle. Toggle is NEEDED. Aside from that, I've been a changeling 3 or 4 times since this testmerge and encounter more and more bugs every time. From the bug that randomizes your appearance when you change back to bugs regarding keeping or losing traits. My most recent round I ate a mime corpse and transformed back to myself only to be fully mute for the rest of the round, including hivemind chat. In a previous changeling round, I transformed back to myself only to have blurry vision but glasses NOT working. The idea, the concept of this is cool [with a toggle] but the execution is FULL of bugs. More so than other test merges I've seen before. It's difficult to want to keep changeling ticked with all these bugs and issues surrounding it.

Honestly, full respect to the dev behind the test merge and all, but i'm shocked it's still test merged with how buggy it has been. Honestly believe it should be reverted until all bugs are ironed out or a toggle is added, some of those bugs makes it REALLY rough to play changeling, one i encounter everytime im ling is eating people while you have the hairy trait just messing up with your hair and making disguising hell. I don't want to remove hairy just because i might roll changeling, but god that bug sucks.
