Reason for application:
Security plays a huge role in the flow of a round. How the department choses to interact with each round's antagonists is extremely important for everyone's fun. I believe I have developed a good sense of judgement on how to best interact with different kinds of antagonists and players, and I believe that being white listed as HoS would help me make each round better for everyone involved. I also believe I have a good tolerance for chaos and stress, and am able to keep a level head and make good security decisions even during high population counts. I also love to teach new players the tricks of the trade. Whilst you definitely do not need to be Head of Security to teach new players or to make judgement calls for the security team, I definitely notice a difference when a team does not have one and I'd love to step up and help fill that gap.

Security experience (300 word minimum):

I started playing security just under a year ago, and it is now my most played department. I never actually started as a security assistant but as an officer, which certainly forced me to learn quickly. In my first few rounds I didn't even know that you should leave your clone disk or pinpointer in security. Through a combination of hands on learning (dying) and the helpfulness of my fellow officers, I have learnt a lot about the department and it's various gameplay mechanics. I have been killed, maimed and accidentally batoned myself countless times. But even when everything is going horribly wrong, I have had so much fun playing as an officer. I've gained technical skills such as forensics, what every item in the armory is for, secmate (use the HUD tags), pod fighting etc. But to me the most important skills I've learnt relate to how to interact with the crew. I have learnt how rewarding it is to interact with as many people as possible. Security should never make anyone feel excluded. Listen to the clown reporting that someone has stolen their joke etc. I have learnt that a security officer should not be some omnipotent badass who only leaves the department to wordlessly arrest an antagonist etc. Have a back and forth. Equally I've gained a good amount of experience in how to deal with antagonists once an arrest has been made. To me this is especially important in the early stages of a round. Knowing when to be lenient and when not to be so lenient is a skill that I have developed through experience. A good officer knows how to search a traitor. A great one knows how to forget to search their oxygen box. All in all I think I have gained a good understanding of how to push a round forward in a way that is as fun for as many people as possible.

Answer two or more of the following:
  • What advice would you give to other sec players?
Always stay on the radio. Not just so you can know what your fellow officers are up to, but also so you can keep up with what everyone else on the station is doing too. This will help you build a bigger picture of how a round is unfolding, so you can choose how to respond better. Also keep an eye out for those death alerts. Many times as a ghost or other role I have seen the death alerts of security officers go seemingly unnoticed. Look out for them and go save your fellow officer!

  • What was one of your favorite security moments? (Either playing as a sec officer or interacting with one)
So many to choose from. The outright ridiculous moments are hard to beat. One time the chaplain converted the chapel into a gambling den and the crew became completely obsessed with slot machines. There must have been 10+ crew members barricaded in the chapel mindlessly gambling their credits away. Then the captain announced the immediate criminalisation of gambling. We stormed the chapel with riot gas and flash bangs and the chaplain pulled out a firearm and began firing indiscriminately into the crowd. Also every single time I have interacted with a wizard. They just always make me laugh every time.

Answer one or more of the following fun questions (because it's important for the HoS to be fun):
What's a security gimmick that you've ran or wanted to run?:

Make every officer wear a hotdog suit for "morale improvement" purposes. Either that or inviting the hall monitor onto the team and insisting they're a real officer.

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will): None!
