Reason for application + game experience (300 word minimum):
I've been a member of the Goonstation community for a little over two years now, nearing on 3 years in a few months (May 18th, 2023), and ever since I've started playing the game I immediately fell head over heels with the whole concept of the game, where I've spent all-nighters cackling non-stop at funny spacemen going [fart.ogg], screaming and exploding and whatnot.
Not only that but the community was one of, if not the most friendly and welcoming ones I've stumbled across in my time, Goonstation is the main reason I am the person that I've become today, and I wouldn't change a thing that happened, along with the fact that it's been an amazing outlet for my creativity thus far. I've made plenty of stupidly fun memories with loads of different folks, I originally started on classic, and about 6 months into my time here, shifted over to RP where I've remained since.
Something I miss in particular about Goonstation was the feeling of extreme unfamiliarity I had when I first started playing, the pure bewilderment I experienced in my first few rounds genuinely cannot be matched by anything else I've ever experienced in my life, and this mentor application doubles as my love letter to the Goonstation community, and all the wonderful times they've given me, and hopefully ones I've also contributed in return.
And the main reason I've decided to open my mentor application is because I'd like a more accessible route to teach new players, even while I'm not actively playing or if I don't happen to be in the exact time and place a player needs help figuring something out.
Moving past the heartfelt yapping and onto actual game experience..
Engineering:
Engineering is by FAR the department I have the most experience in, with several major projects and achievements under my belt such as the 850 MW nuclear reactor, the 100 GW singularity, and the soon to be Petawatt Singularity, so on and so forth, I've also either learned or developed fully stable setups for both the TEG and nuclear reactor without utilizing mechcomp. A funny thing I love to think about is that a fair few people in the community regard me as some sort of "Engineering Cryptid" which is a really awesome nickname tbh. My proudest moment in Engineering however was when somebody named one of my singularity feeder setups after my character, DR. EVIL.
Medical:
Medical probably comes in second place in terms of departments I'm most experienced in, I can usually handle large crowds of people who need medical attention quite well if I'm for some reason on my own, though teamwork is always preferred, especially in departments like Medical. Most of my experience comes in the form of standard doctoring, however I can still mostly operate robotics (outside of forgetting how to reinforce cyborg parts sometimes) and I know the basics of Genetics (mostly just not understanding how to combine genes), I love exchanging healing mixes and recipes with other doctors mid-round during our downtime.
Science:
Though I don't have much to say in terms of Science, since it's mostly just me staring at either the chemicals wiki or slapping numbers into the vortex telescience calculator, I am quite adept at working artifacts, but again, not much to say in terms of science because there just isn't much to it.. HOWEVER I have been meaning to learn packets/guardbuddies for quite some time now, along with the siphon, though I still struggle trying to grasp the concept of how DWAINE works outside of the artifact terminal

Cargo/Mining:
Cargo and Mining I feel are two sides of the same coin, both can be incredibly vital to a station's upkeep at times, whether it's an Engineer with a project that needs a *lot* of materials or the HoS looking to arm the crew with phasers in the case of an extreme emergency, I am thankful to know Cargo enough to fulfill most requisitions, and find it as a fun opportunity to encourage inter-department coordination, even if for a short time, and I enjoy using mining as a chance to get away from the chaos happening on-site and listen to my playlist while shit goes DOWN over the radio :]
Civilian:
Moving onto the Civillian department in general, most of my experience here comes as a Bartender, where I love setting up a decorated little hub where everyone can breathe for a moment after a long shift, and then roleplay being incredibly drunk off their ass once they (regrettably) ask for a shot of bo jack.
As for Chef, I can't comment much on it as I don't play it nearly as often as I used to, but I do enjoy making the occasional themed breakfast, lunch and dinner across a shift, whether it's around a certain culture or concept.
In terms of Rancher knowledge, I admittedly only know enough to get myself void chickens and then run around being a little (literal) pest.
Botany is where my experience in Goon had originally began, and I know enough about botany in order to make things like seethers, lifeweed, etc., all the FUN plants that you get in Botany, but I sort of left the botany scene shortly before I had decided to learn how to effectively splice plants together to make things like triple C fruits or sleepy peanuts (do those still exist actually? i haven't seen them in AGES)
As for all the miscellaneous roles, I don't play them often if at all but I do find them extremely entertaining when other people play them. (Things such as clown, staff assistants, etc.)
Security:
I used to be very fond of Security, knowing the mechanics of my equipment (excluding knowing how the hell to use the wavegun EFFECTIVELY), and I like to imagine I was at least a moderately engaging security player, knowing the basic etiquette of subtracting the time someone's been cuffed from their actual brig timer, making sure to let the antags get away with their shenanigans if it's still early/undeveloped, etc., though I've taken a break because holy hell does getting into an intense fight make me shaky.
Silicon:
I do not play Silicon often enough to make any comment, other than knowing the intricacies of writing AI laws, and how to make sure they don't circumvent your own orders. Though I do intend on beginning to play AI again soon, as I've had a chance to play it for a short while recently and remembered how fond I actually am of the role.
Command:
Last but certainly not least, Command, the people that run the station, most often into the ground, I find Command roles to be a good way of managing the flow of the round, and knowing how to make the most out of a given command round whether as the Captain or CE is very important to me, Command is a great way to get involved in the meat of the antagonist's shenanigans imo, and proves for some great RP, and it's most important to know how to give and take, as it follows the same rule as Security where you do have the power to shut something down in its entirety, but it's good to know when to let something fly if it makes for a more interesting or fun round.
As for the things I mentioned that I do not have much experience on, I do wholeheartedly intend to (if slowly) improve my knowledge in each and every department to finally be known as The Hypernerd.
Admittedly something I've learned as what could be considered a long-standing member of the community is that there will ALWAYS be something new to learn, which I will gladly accept with open arms, and I will try my damnedest to make sure other people can keep up as well, I love sharing new technical stuff I've learned or come up with when it comes to in-game mechanics.
One more thing I'd like to note, which I'm not entirely sure if it's worth mentioning but I like being proud of myself, but I enjoy teaching people about mechanics from a ground-up basis, making sure they understand each fundamental component and then once they know how the very basics work and are able to do it themselves I point them in the direction of experimentation and let them have their own fun, and I think seeing how effective this method of mentoring can be is really what drove me to write this application... That and the tons of people who have shouted at me to write this thing already.
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS !!!! HAVE A GOOD DAY LALALALA. sorry if the application sound really corporate. my brain just sorta switches into "oh shit i gotta be serious" mode though it's good to be silly...

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will):
I can mainly recall a one-month ban for abusing a noclip exploit, I've thankfully put aside that sort of behavior from myself (which i HOPE has been evident), but other than that I've eaten a handful of five-minute joke bans, and a pair of false flag bans from using a VPN.
