Plants? In the Dirt?
#1
It's more likely than you think.

Sometimes on stations that land on planets, or forests you can find out in the void that replaces space during October, you'll find plants like fruit trees and flowers growing directly out of the dirt. You can even harvest them! Personally I think this looks adorable, but at the moment there is no way to get plants to grow out of the soil without admin intervention.

My suggestion? Allow the spades used to transfer plants to pots to also transfer plants to grass/dirt tiles, or to allow seeds to be planted directly onto grass/dirt tiles. Sure, they'd grow slowly and probably worse because they don't have access to nutrients- but it would look cute.

Is there any practical use for this? No. Is it needed? No. Would it be cool? Probably yes. I wish to farm pumpkins in the dirt like a farmer and chase staffies off my land with a shovel.

i feel a better (mayhaps more realistic) idea could be having the spades be able to dig holes like shovels can (albeit a bit more slowly) and burying a seed would make it grow in that tile

Maybe this could be a botany-exclusive feature. I'd prefer to see plants growing naturally in botany than say... in the bar.
