Goon servers you play: goon 4,3 depending on pop, and very rarely goon 1
Reason for application: To expand my ability to guide, lead and supervise the security team. After having too many rounds mostly as AI, CE, MD and RD (and sometimes thier subordinates) i decided to switch things up by playing more security, which i fell in love with which is why i worked in this department much more frequently in the last 3 mounts, i didn't think i would get comfortable enough to become a secoff back when i was a newbie, let alone a HOS, but now i believe it's time!
Security experience (300 word minimum):
So first off i've already played as HOS/NTSC on Fridays since i am a mentor and i had enough experience for me to be confident in trying them out, i am very familiar with thier equipments and responsibilities, i've led the department, had the final say in whoever gets executed, exiled or just released. When it comes to the armory i use/distrubute its equipments depending on the situation and what we need to deal with it, if things get much tougher that's when i die before getting to do something meaningful or realize how serious of a situation we're in go for full authorisation.
Teamwork and communication are fondamental concepts of security, whether with your co-workers or the rest of the crew, i try to stay on comms, share some vital information/ fill in the late joiners, and listen to the crew reporting illegal activities.
I sometimes encounter new members which is when i offer guidance and answer thier questions, while also making sure they're not being abusive.
My approach for contraband has slightly changed from last time, as i am more likely to let people keep them assuming they didn't misuse them and aren't openly a syndicate member, to allow the antags (or just anybody who so happened to have one) to preform thier gimmicks with them. And when we do confiscate them i make sure that none of us are keeping and using it for themselves, that includes even empty pouches of syndicate origin, unless of course we're in a situation where we're forced to use them which is almost never the case for me.
As for handling criminals at custody my punishments are mostly based on how late into the round it is, how many antags are still roaming around, how fucked the station is, whether there are far more important matters to worry about, level of cooperation and of course thier actual criminal charges. If we eliminated all the antags too early then the round is basically on extended for the rest of the shift.
What i find funny about the way i contribute to the team is how i sometimes FEEL like i am dealing with minor and insignificant crimes while in the meantime the rest of my team are on a full on war against some traitors and i am basically just chilling, not that it is wrong to be the one that gets involved in the least action, we're a team after all, each member should cover different cases regardless of whether they involve action, althought i do try to provide backup when it's needed.
Answer two or more of the following:
What advice would you give to other sec players?
1:Take things slowly, unless it's an intense round there is no shame in spending some time talking and roleplaying with the antags.
2:Criminal status is more of a means of identification rather than a strict system to be followed, arresting someone just because of the tiny red mark isn't right if you aren't even aware of thier crimes or charges.
3:Even if you are aware of thier charges try to cuff them in a civil way or bring them in after declaring what they're getting arrested for instead of wordlessly tazing them to the ground (unless they were on a rampage), stuns are for those who resist.
What was one of your favorite security moments? (Either playing as a sec officer or interacting with one)
During one round someone roleplayed as a gorilla and was causing trouble, after it escaped twise our plan was to originally hunt it down using tranq rifles, and when i got into the armory i found out there were some totaly not admin spawned banana trees in there so i changed the plan to have that fruit involved, and when we managed to catch it we brought it to our HQ and then opened a locker full of gathered bananas to make an agreement, as a result the gorilla remained mostly calm, truly one of my proudest decisions!
What game improvements or changes do you think would benefit security players?
I still believe that det_net VR goggles deserves a better and more convenient search system while still keeping the HUD and all the stuff that makes it unique.
Answer one or more of the following fun questions (because it's important for the HoS to be fun):
What's a security gimmick that you've ran or wanted to run?
Execution of syndicate doctors (if we identify them that is) by throwing apples at them, need i say more?
Draw a picture!
HOS just wanted to chill....
