Crematorium and morgue feels under-used
#1
Often when someone dies, their body will be brought to cloning to get cloned, and the most logical way to dispose of the body is to reclaim it, specially since leaving a body laying around will eventually rot and spread miasma, or a wraith could devour it, or one of the other many antagonist that enjoys feasting on bodies could eat said body, so just disposing of it via reclaimer is the most logical thing to do, and what everyone does.

I believe there should be a re-work or a nerf to the reclaimer so it's used less, thus making the morgue, cremation, and overall space burials, we even have a digging system now for regular proper on station burials, more used. Bodies being harder to be disposed would also give the chaplain some extra work, being the one to haul the bodies from medbay to morgue or to it's burial site, and disposing of the body themselves. It would also open up a lot of new opportunities for gimmicks and for antags to mess around and take advantage of said bodies.

A suggestion someone mentioned in the discord would be the reclaimer refuses to eat bodies if the biomatter is maxed, thus if biomatter is maxed bodies would be stored in morgue until biomatter is no longer full and then be disposed of.

Another solution I thought of is the reclaimer no longer eats whole bodies, instead you need to remove the organs and now it only eats organs and meat, this means you would still be able to recycle the dead body for biomatter, by removing its organs, but you would not fully delete the body, still needing the other methods of getting rid of a body such as cremating, spacing or burying.

I remember this being brought up once or twice, and somthing I really liked from those conversations is that leaving the torso unreclaimable will make the bodies harder to dispose of, and that if you want biomass you would have to harvest organs and blood manually instead of dumping the corpse into the reclaimer

Edit: I just now revised you brought it up, sorry bout that, but I do like that one as it gives doctors less work and makes cloning less mindless

heres an idea, reclaimers take all the flesh and organs off a corpse then the skeleton and belongings are ejected (onto a table/tray with wheels) so they can be taken to the morgue to be incinerated, failure to do so could result in skeletons coming to life and attacking, the bone marrow could be consumed by changelings still if kept in a morgue or a wraith could benefit from the corpses being kept there. I realise that having an organless skeleton in the morgue in no way benefits vampires or arcfiends but 2 antags and the chaplain benefiting from having viable corpses after reclaiming does its thing isnt bad.

Emagging should still make the reclaimer chew everything but maybe spit out bone shards that act like glass shards being thrown similair to how a white hole ejects stuff.

I kinda like these suggestions.

Those would be fun implementations.

Additional thought to my idea, vampires could get "blood" from bone marrow so doesnt rule it out and we have torpedo tube trays which already exist in game so just having one in the morgue for transporting bodies would be great, especially if it could be mech scanned for more so a fleet of bodies can be disposed off.

Crematorium could be the fast way to strip bodies. Stick a person in, set it off, everything they had on them or in them (implants, borg limbs and organs, etc) comes out on the tray with a pile of ashes.

Toss the ashes into the reclaimer for easy absorption (Or maybe this just happens automatically?) or use em for fertilizer or other chemistry stuff.

Kinda feel like the morgue should be colder in general, sorta like the chef's freezer

Really like that idea, so you need to cremate a body in order to get its ashes to reclaim for biomatter, that way antagonist could intercept the transportation of the body to the crematorium, and it also takes more effort to reclaim them.
