The barberang is upsetting

New trait: "My Hair is Invincible". Scissors that try to cut your hair come back dented. Even if your body and possessions get vaporized by the PTL, your hair is left behind unscathed. Even the syndicate's advanced Barberang can't steal your hair, but it does do extra damage to you and (insert funny alternative effect? Like a silly voiceline, or an explosion?)

Helmet hair. Makes a loud bonk noise and does some extra stunning from the blunt force trauma

I think the issue would be the forcible and unresistable change of the characters appearance.

A "hair spray enthusiest" trait thet makes it so your hair cant be changed/cut/dyed would provably be very popular. Juat diaable it for wizards

I agree, and while I think 99.9% of us aren't out here trying to traumatize people, and are more than open minded given how accepting of the accepting this community is.

This is extremely poignant, and leads me to remind everyone of the very first warning we get when we log into Goonstation. The one about being killed and farted on. Being balded is in the middle of that somewhere.

Being killed, gibbed, farted on, etc is preferable in my eyes to things like being made forcibly bald, or the wrong age, or the wrong gender.

I to am trans, and yeah im not the biggest fan if especially Roselin gets changed in a big way like hair or gender, I had a round were I died and got cloned and she came out as a male bald man, which made me feel a bit unconvertable IRL, luckily, someone had a bit of blood from Rose and managed to changer her back to normal.
What I wanna say is, yeah I can understand on how it can feel bad at the moment but nothing in this game is really permanent unless you decide to make it so.
Im not the biggest fan of people using polymorph on me and how I deal with it is telling the people in RP that it was an ass move maybe punch them ones and yell at them to make it somewhat funny, I try to make the best out of the situation and maybe get some RP out of it, I had moments were I chased people because of it because it was just funny RP. Most people don't do this stuff to hurt you as a player and the ones that do that get banned.

I think some people made very cool suggestions here, like the invincible hair trait it would be very funny if someone touches an generator artifact and the only thing that is left is their hair because of it.
Or the bald cap gun also a fun idea.

I think this post brought up some good points, and it can be fixed for example with these two Ideas people had and I think its much better then just removing the item.

I don't see any reason to just having a zero cost trait that makes your hair unchangable (i can smell the mutant race code hating this), it definetly has comedy potential for someones hair to be left over when they touch a hotwire. Balancing wise it's not important for someone to get the hair in the end but the damage can still apply. My only question would be how you'd want barbering to work?

Instead of chopping off your hair and bringing that to the thrower, it takes a little too much off the top and chops off your head.

Oh snap, that's hilarious. Especially with that flavor text.

I am also uncomfortable very specifically with my character getting shaved. Any other means of messing with what they look like is irritating to me- but only because I've not only just been outsmarted, but I also now look like I've just been outsmarted. But in the specific case of shaving, it bothers me for the same reason that I would be uncomfortable with, for example, characters being able to swallow each other whole.
That being said, for the barberang specifically, I'm much less bothered by it than I would be by a random clown with a razor because it's clearly attached to an antag role, part of some greater plot, and it's incredibly temporary within the scale of a 100 minute game. Because of all that, I don't think my own discomfort really justifies any changes.
Really, the point where I start to be less-than-negligibly upset with abruptly being bald is the point where I'd be ahelping it anyway for some other reason, like no escalation or non-antag grief.

Haven't specifically seen the barberang used in a long time, but I imagine that the wig dropping on the floor below the character instead of being brought back to the thrower would relieve a sizable amount of what's being talked about here. I also imagine that seeing the barberang used in more rounds would make everyone a lot more discontented by it, so I appreciate how rare it is.
