Tank Backpack
#1
Another construction suggestion! How fun.

A fuel tank loosely put togheter with a backpack. It doesn't really have any way to store physical items, but it sure as hell can store a lot of chems.
Yup. Goes on the back slot, and essentially lets you quickly draw out from / add chems to it.
A basic idea of how construction would go:
1. Grab a backpack, a fuel tank, and wirecutters.
2. Put the backpack on the floor, and use the wirecutters on the backpack while having the fueltank in your offhand.
After a short action bar, the process is done, and gives the tank backpack, alongside some cloth scraps / bits of whatever the hell that backpack was made out of.
This could also be done with water cooler bottles, but i feel like you'd end up having those missing way too often at that point. Soo.. fuel tanks it is.

Click-dragging the backpack to yourself would switch modes, similiar to a syringe. Toggles from draw / drop. Fairly self-explanatory.
Clicking on the backpack with a reagent container would either fill it with 10u of whatever's inside the backpack if in drop mode, or draw 10u from the container if in draw mode.
Click-dragging the backpack to your hand lets you take it off, duh. Also, using it inhand opens a small menu that lets you see how full it is, the mix color, and a 1-100 slider for how many units it should draw/drop at a time. 10u is just the default.

Also drew a rough mockup of what it'd look like. (you can tell i'm no artist.)

Please add a way to also draw from any containers you have in your active hand, so we can steal large amounts of lemon-lime flavored, highly caffeinated soda from the bartender while they aren't looking.  bee

More seriously, I like the idea of having some sort of tank to carry fluids around and it could be used for plenty of fun(or not so fun) shenanigans by both traitors and crew alike. I can see chemists mixing up chems as they walk around the station in their backpacks so they're not sitting in the chemlab all shift, botanists giving out the finest freshly-squeezed fruit juice to anyone and everyone, and traitors making nice, large piles of phlog and smoke powder to set off from a safe distance. Maybe we could have the backpack be clear, and use a similar system to the cups/glasses we have now, so people passing by them can see the color of stuff in the tank? I agree with not using the water cooler bottles, cause those are already stolen enough, but making the backpack have the same transparent plastic could be fun.

Also, just a side idea! I know we already have the WAV3 for the janitors, but allowing this to become a sort of DIY/bootleg WAV3 could be fun if you could somehow hook up a spray bottle or fire extinguisher to pull from it(with the usual restrictions of those tools).

Yeah this is basically WAV3 for the common man, I 100% agree that ideally having some transparency would be nice.

Bear in mind that spray bottles have been very carefully tuned after certain....behaviour with rapidly dispensing chems ON people, but if it's just focusing on reagent containers alone and it's all visible/audible when its doing it that seems absolutely fine. Maybe not people directly? backpack items don't fall out of your hand on being stunned/knocked down unlike say a bottle of meth pills. If you could sip direct from the 300u meth backpack that's on par with a very controllable infusion set with theoretically a lot less effort.

I'm more leery of the suggestion of linking it to sprayable objects, but mostly just because that -sounds- scary more than any real actionable issue. So it's probably fine.

That's how the draw / drop mode works! Theoretically, you'd just swap to draw mode and click on the backpack with the container you want to siphon from in your hand. It's a bit slow switching via click-dragging to yourself, but it isn't meant to be the peak of technology anyways

Seeing this reply in this specific post just reminded me about that "Operation Soda Steal" guy that made a fancy backpack just to steal tons of baja blast from taco bell

Maybe it should just be it's own unique backpack instead of something craftable. Pass a few of them out to jobs that might want to cart around and dispense large amounts of liquid:

Science, Botany, Janitor, and Bartender. Maybe Engineers?

Have a slight sloshing sound happen when the person wearing one is walking around

I think you can still have the fun stuff if you add some other kind of limiter. Maybe it's a hand pump pressurized tank. You lose pressure as you disperse the liquids and will have to take the pack off and pump it again to rebuild the pressure.
