Robuddy Brainstorming

Made a thread on why and when people use robuddies other than me and people had some ideas so I thought I'd make a thread just for those ideas.

Some ideas from the last thread are:
  • To give robotics access to/move to robotics, so that it isn't restricted to sillicons and the RD. This is certainly my favorite idea of them all because I hate to waste a slot as RD just to use the buddies, or constantly asking people for help when dealing with buddies because sillycons can't do much with them than just assigning them tasks.
  • More tasks, like having them patrol rooms that you decide, so you can assign buddies to departments and stuff. Would be great for buddies like Klaus who just wander the station with just a different name and hat and a docking port that they never seem to return to.
  • More variety, one user suggested different modules and tasks for different jobs than just guarding so they can sorta mimic other roles. I like this idea a lot and think it could be as simple as just making them heal on sight or clean on sight as compared to attacking on sight. Doesn't even really need new tasks to take on new jobs, and it'd be extra cool to have some clean-buddy following the janitor to help out, or a medic-buddy following a doctor to give out some epinephrine.

Brainstorm some ideas, drop them below, and maybe some coder might give them some love.

Eh.... You don't need rd access to mess with robuddy. The spoofing mechanic for SU is pretty much just a copypaste of something that is already in game and your name + your occupation.

Oh hi. I was the one who suggested some of these in the topic. I am glad you added them.

As for Spoofing, that would be considered near "Self-antagging" and going "against what your job does."
Wich is a big no-no on the RP servers.
Essentially RD , Captain and HoS are the ones who start with SU and thus are "in their lanes"

I am full for this suggestion, but the only problem is that each map may have to move the "buddybay" closer to robotics.
But then again... Genetics is "TECHNICALLY" Science too, but it's always located inside medbay (they use the research budget).

But in some stations. The robuddy charge places aren't even in science or "smack next to robotics" anyway.
And science most of the time is next to medbay. (Cept Donut 2 where it has it's own station)

making guardbuddies more useful would be a good addition, as they're basically just worse secbots in my eyes, minus the customization.
though, i kinda wish there were different "skins" you could give them so to distinguish their roles, as i don't like the ugly brown/black they're given

There's a gold skin but yeah, skins would be pretty nice to have.
