Syndicate funding through agent cards
#1
Just a small idea since the agent card lost one of its unique properties (allowing access to the listening post).

The agent card should come linked to a global syndicate account that has some funds on it.
The funds would scale with population and come with the regular pay interval every 5 minutes.

Buying the agent card adds the pin to the buyers notes.

Since both initial funds and regular income would scale with population Id say that the initial balance should scale a bit more to accommodate for people joining over time.

For the actual amounts uhh... for balancing reasons I dont think it should be enough to buy some of the higher end items in the listening post especially on low pop. But maybe something like 3 items in the 5k range at 15 pop in 30 minutes.
If someone has good ideas for specific amounts feel free to share them

Also if I am not mistaken the agent card does not work with your personal bank account even if you copy the name and pin. So that way you could actually toss your original ID and still buy meds and other stuff on station.

Sounds good to me.

That does sound interesting, but the amount of money you proposed might be overtuned for nadir and oshan. 5k is the price for one torpedo, being able to easily buy three of them could be somewhat destructive for a 1 TC item.

Something that might also be cool woud be the possibility to modify the card's title and look multiple times.

Okay so the issue with this is that it kinda gives free tc for a 1 tc item. While yes, CARL doesn't always sell the same item and rely on rng, by having a funding, it means you can get 1 tc or more item from a 1 tc item.

For reference, signal jammer is 3 tc item that can be bought with 300 credits, torpedo on ocean base map is 5000 credits which has a decent explosive, voice changer is 1 tc and sell for 5000, holographic disguiser is 2 tc and 5000 credit.

I also like the idea of changing it multiple times but its still costs only 1 TC and if we add the money to it it might already be good enough for the price.

I do not think providing money will make them be bought that much more from carl.
Money isnt exactly hard to get and if you have a high paying job youll probably earn a fair bit of money regardless of what you do.
Especially the concern around the torpedo I understand tho and I am more then open to reduce the amount to prevent 5k purchases until way later into the round if at all.
Syndie gear should not be in the way of having the convenience to toss your old ID and buy meds and food on station.

what if agent IDs also copied the accounts from scanned IDs and drained each one equally when spending money, no PIN required?

I do quite like the "Syndicate Funding" approach, it gives people a reason to actually still get the card and it would give Security a way to maybe catch the bad guy by checking the ID.

This would also be a good suggestion, although it loses flavor. You could still go to Security and say "My ID is compromised please find the bad guy"
