Chaplain ideas
#1
Chaplain right now doesn't have many features, it is a very RP based job which doesn't work well if people aren't interested in RPing, on classic servers chaplains end up just hunting antags. I created this thread so people could suggest features for the role!

Here is my suggestion, a machine you can make cult robes with, something like using cloth and a borg arm to make the adeptus mechanicus robes.

Prehaps some way to mark people with various fancy symbols and also choose who can and cant see said symbols?

Not to shoot the whole idea down, but cults are exactly what admins DONT want.

Chaplains used to have abilities but they got super removed

atm chaps are the validhunter role since they get immunity or strengths against most antags.

Maybe chaplains could start out with a non-gene version of heal touch that has a progress bar or something?

They can heal people by smacking them with a bible; however it deals brain damage.

maybe if we want them to be less of a validhunting job we should remove the gun?

Nah. A priest with a gun hidden in a bible is a fantastic trope.

what about the chaplain being able to summon cthulhu with an immense amount of effort and time needed?

That’s just adding cult antags to the game

How about summoning a giant statue of a being of your choice (including crew members and a grab bag of deities from pop culture) made of a material of your choice for decoration

I think mini miracles that you worked towards somehow could be fun, something like healing everyone a little or being able to revive one person, giving buffs like the food buffs, that sort of stuff. Maybe you could accumulate points for the miracles as time went on and it would cost some to use them.

I like the idea of giving chap heal buffs. Sure, why not

How about luck bonuses? A chaplain could bless someone and increase their chances on RNG based actions, or give them chance to have a timed action complete quicker than normal.

Maybe the blessing is lost or even becomes a curse if something happens like hurting someone or getting your clothes dirty (cleanliness is next to godliness)
