Telescience Calibration Replacement Suggestions

Beacons are actually a fantastic idea. Not to Nerd, but for telemetry purposes in Real World Science, we actually do rectify our GPS coordinates using towers/beacons, and the more the better. So I think that'd be awesome flavor for telesci and more exploratory like you said.

Also MatSci has tripods as a potential schematic, so maybe there'd be something to do with those too? Different durability/strengths to reinforce beacons, maybe better mats reduce number of beacons required to successfully cover an area? Tripods with power sources embedded can keep the portal open longer?

Cool idea!

tbh once the beacons were set up it would make all the normal telesci shenanigans absurdly easy, especially for ai
i'm assuming that beacons would make it so all telesci uses gps coords and no offsets if set up
sure, it'd require crew cooperation to get set up but like, once it's running you'd be able to fly over people/objects, get their gps coords, and instantly teleport them without either : putting the coords in a calculator or using a DWAINE script that applies offsets to gps coords automatically

currently unless people have dwaine scripts for it, putting it in a calc to get offsets adds an extra time delay that makes it a bit harder to pull off cheesy things

it'd be fun though, would definitely slightly lower the barrier to entry in some ways and force people to go out to wherever the beacons are supposed to go

i agree that it'd make hellburns more difficult - the current "rush magic gas" stuff is necessary but not super fun for anyone involved since it is just a rote "run to a specific easy to get to spot every round" that the only real barrier is "knowing where you're supposed to go"

Gotta say, this seems sick.

Hellburns aren't really relevant because agent B is being added to manufacturers
