Big Thread of Assorted Space Bee Ideas
#1
Okay, so, space bees are awesome, and well, I have a lot of mostly dumb ideas involving them, and this thread's mostly to collect my/others suggestions for making space bees (or things vaguely related to space bees) more better.
  • Reacting to vuvuzelas/harmonicas/saxophones.

In addition to wrangling, a way of having a bee function as a pet, and staying close to you and/or defending you uselessly but adorably against danger.

Semi-pointless beekeeper job, which is just botanist with a different uniform and stuff.

Effects from humans eating royal jelly or a combination of royal jelly and bee kibble.

Space Beeswax, and making space honeycomb walls/floors out of them, for space hives.

Bombini's a space bee, and beer has "bee" in it, but mead, being fermented honey, would probably be more to his liking.

I'll probably edit this as I get more ideas or something, and yeah they're all pretty much stupid, nitpicky, or probably hard to do.

Okay, so I just realized this forum has no edit feature. Okay, so then, one idea I forgot:

Adorable buzzy sound effects, because silent bees are weird. Sure, they have message noises, but I mean like, making audible noise.

I would love the ability to harvest beeswax and make a hivestation off of the real one!

Another one: If you eat a space bee egg, a space bee should chestburst out of you after the time it takes for a larva to pupate, doing shitloads of damage. Doing this and eating a royal jelly should cause a ridiculous beegib.

I am definitely on board for a beekeeper job and a few bee hives to manage! Just take away one of the botanist positions (There doesn't need to be 3) and then put the expansion on the east side of Botany. It would be wicked. Also honeycomb floors and wax and shit would be awesome.

expand botany outward a little and add some bee hutches for them to live in/harvest honey/honeycombs/etcetera

Given the size of space bees it's probably less "hutch" and more "adorable bee kennel", although I do like the idea of having space bee houses in botany, though they'd obviously have to hang out with the flowers if they're gonna get their nectar, unless we ended up with some way of harvesting nectar from plants and putting it in little bee dishes or something.

No to a beekeeper job, yes to some bee gear in a crate in botany.

After just doing a round where I managed to eat a metric fuckton of honey, doing such things probably should do something interesting though not entirely debilitating. Aside from the hilarity that is having your sprite jumping all over the place, that is.

Hell yes, this would be so fun as a traitor botanist. Just knock someone on their ass and feed them a space bee egg. I wonder what syndicate honey would do.

Be like syndicate poison, only delicious.

Allow botany to cut out the middleman and add a space bee egg mutation to eggplants, (and maybe a spider one, while we're at it, why stop at chicken eggs?).

Let them order a Queen Bee that lays eggs from QM or by make one by feeding larva some kind of weird mutated plant. A big fat thing who sits there and the other bees feed it honey and if you attack it then all the bees sting you.

Just give botany a pet queen bee and a bee crate.

Maybe throw in a bee keeping suit somewhere that's resistant to bees stings

This would take less effort then making a beekeeping job and it would be funny to watch someone attack the queen bee only to be attacked by every other bee.

Maybe even give traitor botanist a bee hive that can be thrown to spawn angry bees.

We're talking about the big fat adorable bees like Heisenbee here, their stings don't even hurt. A queen bee wouldn't particularly be useful here either since the whole "genetically engineered species" business means they're not particularly born, but made (You can make giant "queen" bees though, if you're clever.).
