Centration is greenlit.

It got green lit. Good for them.

I wouldn't compare it to warZ yet, since warZ was hyped up to be something it's not; and all we've seen of this are laggy pre-alpha videos.

This is exactly like warZ and the million minecraft clones on the xbox indie market. You can't just take somebody else's idea and make it again poorly with your own twist, especially if you don't understand why the original worked in the first place. See:

Calling it just a shitty copy like the warZ in its pre-alpha state is sort of bullshit. I don't mean to sound repetitive, but it is still only a pre-alpha. The only thing the devs have to show at this point is an unoptimized demo of a few mechanics. Plus, it isn't really a copy since it is made by the same guy.
what do you mean "it's made by the same guy" aza/noms was not the developer of ss13 and contributed nothing to the original game beyond leaking the original source code and being a big dramatic idiot

In short, not really. In long, not really, but not without several actual reasons. Server/game war things are dumb, and that's not the reason.

Counter-strike in Space. Same awful mechanics as a FPS. No accountability or incentive for the players to behave.

well, i for one look forward too it. It seems like a really good game. I think the problem is, a lot of people think this is "ss13 in space!", but it's not, and that's a good thing in my opinion. The developers have made it clear, and from the looks of it, the only similarities between the two is that it is a space station game, and that the back story is somewhat similar.

but, what i don't get, is why so many of you dislike it with a passion. It's still in early alpha, yet so many here (i was un-aware), seem to have great disdain for it. Is there a reason, or a cause that i have not yet heard of?

Oh yeah, because clearly making an environment where crew members can beat eachother to death with tools, among other objects, is nothing like Space Station 13, because theirs has three dimensions.

so what, ss13 is to stay an obscured little game in the dark corners of the internet? Sure, centration has similarities to ss13, but does that make it a bad game? no. i say, give them a chance.

He never said anything about it needing to be obscure or that the other game was bad because it is a 3d clone.
He just said what it is, an attempt at likeness to SS13, heck when it was earlier in development they advertised it as 3d SS13.

I'm only interested in centration because it will probably have less lag than byond and because you know someone will mod out the problems.

To those not in the know:

AZA, (the main developer of this particular knock-off), was given the original ss13 source by the creator, Exadv. AZA then proceeded to leak the code (which wasn't his to leak) and then got really, really mad when goons took the leaked code and made Goonstation. (he seemed to be fine with tg and the like taking the code, though)

What followed was AZA sending out legal threats and (misspelled) cease & desist letters to goonstation (obviously written by himself.) Trying to make byond drop goonstation from the hub, rallying attacks on goonstation etc.

Eventually he decided to make his own server, but could only find people like android data (pages could be written) to help. AZA unexpectedly disappeared shortly after, and served a jail sentence for some kind of fraud.

So the main dev is an ex con goonhater who couldn't even run a ss13 server. More you know
