You can put flashlights into jack-o-lanterns to make them glow, but you can't put candles in there, like people do in real life.
I'm guessing it's so that being able to turn the jack-o-lantern on and off at will makes sense, but I'd rather have the ability to make lanterns with things besides flashlights than the ability to turn it off. (And besides, I wouldn't put the light in there just to leave it off.) Besides, we can still have a way to toggling it on and off; instead of just turning the flashlight off or snuffing the candle, we could just remove the light source from the lantern.
