Synchronized Self Biomass Manipulation Shouldn't Kill You at 100%+ Stability

Synchronized Self Biomass Manipulation Shouldn't Kill You at 100%+ Stability. At the VERY LEAST it shouldn't kill you in a way that leaves you complete unclone-and-borg-able.

Wait, it kills you even if it's natural and you have someone slap Synchronized on you?

What the actual fuck?

It's a chance thing, but the chance is way too high. It's kinda fucked. Crazy funny to watch someone else go "look i can teleport" then die, but terrible for the person.

In this specific case (I was asking in discord if someone knew if there was SOME threshhold where it was reliable and another fella was politely insistent that it couldn't kill you if you had 100%+ stability) I did have the normal SBM latently. I activated it, did genetics til I got a synchronizer chromosome, had the other geneticist store my SBM (which removed the latent gene from me, as well) and then spliced in the chromosome and put it in myself. This put my down to 95% stability.

I then got myself Diminished Optic Nerve (the one you wear glasses for, which I wore) to put myself back to 100%, and had the other geneticist confirm I did in fact have 100% stability. I then used it eh.... 5, 6 times? And died with no chance of revival cuz yer a skeleton with no brain.

I did this to prove my point definitely, but I KNEW it was gonna happen because I've died many times before with way higher than 100% stability. I like to give myself blindness/deafness when they're not latent genes cuz it's "free" stability since I can just wear a visor and auditory headset.

It's a decent amount of work to get Synchronized SBM, fighting against the RNG to get a synchro chromosome. It's not IMPOSSIBLE but it does take work. It's also a 100 second cooldown. This power should not be murdering you with no chance of ressurection when you put THIS MUCH WORK into getting it.

Unrelated, robust genetics trait doesn't seem to work but I need to test it a few more times before I put it in bugs forum.

EDIT: I was honestly expecting the replies to OVERWHELMINGLY be of the flavour "hahaha quit whining", thanks for pleasantly surprising me guys.

Had the same problem, stuff like this really hurts Genetics

I just took a look at the codebase, and I might know why this is happening. I'm busy for the next couple of days, but I'll see if I can get another coder to take a look.

EDIT: Fuck it, I may be at work but I think I can get this change in...
EDIT: I've put a change in that may solve this issue. If it happens to anyone again, please send me a screenshot of your message log from just before you used it until just after the skeletonizing. Leaving this open until someone can verify that it probably works as intended, as I have not tested it.

Wow! Thank you Mordent and everyone else, this went way, WAY better than I thought it would! I will get it tested tonight.

I think genetic stability as a whole drops way to quickly with effects that are way to dangerous

That's a feature request, buddy, off to the Ideas forum! Suggest some alternative numbers or alternative effects.

For the record, should a geneticist die to SBM, they are still cloneable by using the necro scan chip even though you have no brain.
