Idea: Have simplified chem dispensers in certain departments. Rather than letting you mix a bunch of chems, they let you pick from a couple of premixed cocktails. An example would be space cleaner for the Janitor, or styptic for medical
The chems are drawn from reserve tanks stored near chemistry. There's a certain amount at round start, but it can run out, needing chemists to refill them.
Alerts are given to both chemistry and the department when a reserve is running low.
This allows cooperation between departments without either having to leave the work area, and gives opportunities for malicious tampering

Can you dump the styptic powder tank to fill it with ants ?

Yeah there should probably be a means to flush the whole thing from Chems end.
Probably a way to relabel from the dispensers as well if say, the chemists want to replace the styptic with synthflesh

this would literally not be used by anyone because places that need chems already have way too many basic chems in stock, and people only request more specialty chems from chemistry.

Space cleaner would be used at least. Especially if the tank can refill the janitor machine directly.
But I'm thinking we already have something similar, that could be tweaked : Tanks, as in fuel tank, composter, water tank, helium tank and foam tank.

More like "please don't make whether I live or die from drinking soup that was too hot based entirely on other people".

This'd work more into that nanomed rework thing someone mentioned a while back, but for other departments as well.
Chem taps in the departments would be linked to kegs of chems in chemistry, and using the chem taps would tap into those chem kegs. The taps could dispense the chems in various forms, like on patches or in syringes, and would run out over time. Anyone in chemistry could refill the kegs, though foreign chems would show up in the taps and could be filtered out; an emag would hide evidence of tampering, though.
Could have multiple empty kegs linked to a department's taps in case someone wants to give medbay a million units of Perf or the clown's room a million units of QGP.

Lets just nerf chemistry and stop at chemistry.
