Controversial Change Reaction Thread #5: The Hit Icons
#16
The only change I would recommend is the option to hide them/not see them on Character Setup.

Unless that already exists and I'm blind.

Only change I want is to remove the popup when you use something on yourself. Other than that I like it.

They could definitely do with being more subtle. As is they're distracting and block view of the target with larger sprites like the grab. It's uneccessary for them to indicate things like help actions or self use.

just updated :

Removed the effect on self-interaction
Removed the effect for most medical tools
Made the particle more transparent

edit : also stealth weapons such as the sleepy pen don't show particles - it uses the same check as the attack twitch animation

One thing I noticed: I was able to see someone breaking the telesci windows with an extinguisher. The blast doors were in the way so I couldn't see them, but I did see the extinguisher being repeatedly applied to the window. I feel like you shouldn't be able to see item interactions if you can't see either the person using the item in question or the person/object it's being used on.

I really like this feature. It allows me to see who's doing what to who, on-screen, without having to constantly look back and forth between it and the chatbox. Some people have said it doesn't look nice, but I think it looks very good. It's not obnoxious or anything, imo. It fits quite well with the rest of the game's aesthetic, while providing very useful information on who's interacting with what.

I really dislike this change, It looks very out of place

Fairly diverging opinions here, but I also like it. It's fairly minor, but in crowded situations it's really helpful to tell who's hitting who.

Not needing to scan a paragraph of text to know who is murdering who is nice. As other people said though, things you use on yourself should probably be hidden.

From the example given on the last page it looks alright. Could barely tell it was there. I agree that there should be an on and off toggle for those who rather play with it off.

Stealth items should not appear on people IMO

I like seeing the fist-storm when a bunch of people gang up on a guy. It needs tweaking, yes, but I like it a lot. Disable it for stealth items, stings, sleepypens, etc.

just gonna point out again because my comment above has been missed, it appears: Stealth items are blocked, as well as most medical devices. If you come across any items that should be blocked but we missed, let us know here.

might be worthwhile to include these changes in the op mbc

I quite like it, it helps you pinpoint things like who is being attacked in a super crowded shuttle.

Definitely should get as many opinions on this as possible, since interactions are core to SS13 gameplay.
