strange death as a Changeling

I got shot to crit and hit Regenerative Stasis to feign death and hopefully stand up later.

After this, I got tossed into space. I figured that was perfect, but suddenly, instead of standing up, I simply died and headspidered

I had more than enough points for the regen stasis, and I wasn't being attacked by anything before or after being shot twice. I didn't hit anything in the z-levels except for the square I landed safely on

How did I not just stand up? I've used regen stasis before, you normally just stand up after a few mintues, you generally don't die. Someone suggested it might have been O2 damage dealt by being in crit, but as a changeling that should really not happen

That happens sometimes. Same with when you die you don't headspider sometimes

Dumb. I'll look into it later today. Changelings kinda suck lately anyways, I miss the days when changelings were just as feared when 'dead' as they were when alive. Seems like an awful lot of changelings just get lasered to death or beaten to death now.

Just to confirm, this was me who lasered you to "death" and spaced you after doing the test
Although I knew after 2 lasers when I examined you, you appeared dead that you went into statis so I spaced because I was feeling like giving you a second chance knowing that'd you would of survived. Adventure through a asteroid field or a ling feeding pen is the only nice way I can think of dealing with one. Although this time this wasn't the case

This has been fixed somewhat, aside from the time-shortage buff. You get a message "You are not strong enough to headspider!" if you haven't absorbed enough.

changelings should get more powers IMO :/

controllable headspiders should be a thing

like you should be able to scuttle off into the maintenance tunnels and pick a good target instead of just automatically jumping on the nearest guy(who is probably surrounded by a group of heavily armed changeling hunters).

Or, alternatively, instead of having a headspider at all, the changeling's dying body should just implant someone random within a decent sized radius with no message. So, like, if an angry mob beats the changeling to death then any one of the mob could get a secret infection that would let the dead changeling take them over. And they won't know who it is. Might spread a little paranoia instead of the current reaction to someone getting headspidered, which is "Welp looks like we're heading to medbay".

It would be even better if sometimes it was the headspider, and sometimes it was this instead.
