Would be cool if you could use a fuel tank on a welding tool to refill it. Would give fuel tanks an actual use aside from just being makeshift bombs/flamethrowers. Ideally they'd be able to refuel a welding tool multiple times before needing to be refilled themselves.

I know, right? I thought they'd do that around the first time I found them, then I was really confused as to why they wouldn't. Right now, they're mainly just useful for making flamethrowers, storing buttloads of hellchem, and blowing up in the shuttle.
Perhaps, even, it could be attached to the welder to give it an extra 400 units of fuel to burn. Or, it would auto-feed into the welder if held in your other hand or worn on your back. Hmmm.....

1. Make fuel tanks a normal sized item
2. Allow welders to be refueled using them.
3. Let me pour welding fuel all over the floor so I can torch medbay, damn it.

Like, seriously, is there a legitimate function for those handheld fuel tanks besides flamethrowers?

They can make good bombs if you leave one hidden under a shrub with a lighter. Other than that useless.

With exception to the flamethrower bit, they're basically 400u drinking glasses. You might say that's not legitimate, but that's probably because you've never had a relative fill a (new) fuelcan with beer at a kegger.

I can attest to this. Just a hunch but since Popecrunch is from my neck of the woods I bet he could, too. :P
It's great- you never need to go back for refills, and if you drop it it'll probably land on it's bottom anyhow!

Make it a backpack that only accepts fuel tanks and lets you refill by clicking a button.
Refilling while the flame is extended is probably a bad idea.
Of course I have no idea what people are doing if they need to carry a welder refilling backpack around, unless it's fighting kudzu or blob.

I'm all for this idea, but I'd also love to see more uses for them
Maybe some vehicles like the carts or forklifts could run on fuel and these tanks could be handy ways to refueling?

Didn't there used to be generators that ran on plasma?
Maybe QM could buy a costly version that runs on welding fuel tanks. stick it near an APC and get some power.

I believe that's the emergency power generator.

Now you’ve got me thinking about other uses for welding fuel.
Welding fuel + Ethanol + Water = Space Sterno
Space Sterno can be ignited in a beaker to provide powerful heat (a craftable Space Heater). If you drink it it gets you super blasted but also causes lots of TOX damage/vomiting/general grossness.
We really need a Methanol chem for hobo wine and bathtub gin.

I wonder if we can combine a full fuel tank plus lighter and/or welding tool for a unique suicide message sequence:
[NAME] raises the fuel tank over their head and pours it's contents onto themselves!
[NAME] lights himself on fire with the welding tool/zippo lighter! Holy shit!

sounds like that would work well with my antifreeze suggestion in the Chemmunity thread
man i hope he gets to it eventually
