There could be a case in either direction. I initially imagined it as "if the pin breaks, it's over for the gun", but there could also be the possibility of replacing the firing pin. It's not something one could do under fire.

Obviously, if the weapon has a catastrophic malfunction, then there's no coming back from that.

Of course, yes. Only a 20-round magazine, the fire rate isn't that high, it's a little inaccurate because of the smoothbore barrel, and the gun doesn't hit particularly hard. That, and the reliability issue.

Depending on balance, it might also be locked to being a two-handed weapon, on account of its considerable weight. It can definitely fit in a backpack though.

But in the end, it's an SMG alright. Put in the legwork and it's a decent reward.
