Obviously, if the weapon has a catastrophic malfunction, then there's no coming back from that.

Only a 20-round magazine, the fire rate isn't that high, it's a little inaccurate because of the smoothbore barrel, and the gun doesn't hit particularly hard. That, and the reliability issue.

Depending on balance, it might also be locked to being a two-handed weapon, on account of its considerable weight. It can definitely fit in a backpack though.
But in the end, it's an SMG alright. Put in the legwork and it's a decent reward.
