You really shouldn't feel cheated out of an experience by that, experimenting with the chem system is its own reward. It's why most of the secret chems suck in gameplay.

That is something to decide for themselves, having found the cool new chem and being among the select few who know how to do it and showing off its fun effects is arguably better of a reward.
It's a right for players to want what they do to remain private if that's what they desire. It can be seen anyway by busting in and looking at the screen as another crewmember or as the AI, but that's a manageable risk they can control and are willing to take, unlike having someone effortlessly just peep at what they're doing and steal some DWAINE program or special death mix that can be then be spread and spammed until nerfed.
