Cola is fairly easy to acquire, A barman has a soda dispenser full of it in his little mixing room, an assistant can just buy space cola from the vending machines, and a chemist can make it, It's not really hard to do.

Also, It would be funny if space fungus was used for bootleg whiskey that made you blind if you drank too much.
