I'm really open for suggestions as to how, but frankly I'm pretty sick of their current mechanics.
As near as I can tell, they rack up a tremendous, insane amount of tox damage+oxy damage(+heart failure?) immediately if there's plasma in the oxygen slot. Internals don't block this, and it's a kill after about five~ seconds, during which you have losebreath and can't talk.
Not only is this completely different from plasma's mechanics(even pure plasma in an internals tank does far less damage) everywhere else, it also happens to be really damned annoying and an insanely powerful trap for something that takes a crowbar and no extra materials, and the only way to check before getting into your pod is to tediously open it up with a crowbar or lock it.
Considering you can just swim in the stuff normally, a simple fix would just be to have internals block this.
