Sun tanners Burn your eyes even if wearing Flash resistant glasses

What the Title says, of note they also do this if you are wearing a welding mask... or nothing at all. I have no clue if it would burn your eyes if you were blind, or blind folded since I have not experimented with the tanner very much and its fairly new.
