Using spliced genes as activators doesn't use the splices.

Yeah, I mean, I get that might be why it happens, but it would definitely be cooler to be able to use spliced gene activators and have the effect be the same as an injector if you've already got the gene.

It's also incredibly unpleasant thinking you're gonna phase shift and just having all your flesh melt off.
