What if maint access levels could be adjusted by the AI or security, on a scale similar to how the jobs are color-coded? Known killer? Tighten security so people are forced into the halls. Peacetime? Loosen security so people can navigate easier. et cetera
I love this idea, actually.
I can imagine open access, low security and high security, and quarantine modes for when viral out breaks are happening
I think TG/Hippie/someotherservers have this in some form, but I've mostly only seen it be used as a "okay red alert, that means security can strip you at random" thing. Except when there's pretty good reason to open all of maint.
That said, I think the open access idea could be interesting, especially if it could be expanded to whole departments.
CAPTAIN IS NOW HOLDING A SCIENCE FAIR, RESEARCH IS NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
I should probably stick to the original idea though.
As for letting security lock off maint entirely, I'm okay with that, provided they don't just turn off maint access every round for "safety" reasons and make it impossible to do anything without installing false walls everywhere and hacking doors. Watching AI electrocute the crew by shifting the security level to high and electrocuting all the main doors would be pretty funny.
