You are overthinking this to the max grek.
It's more like this:
- Assigns random favorite food to the individual at round start
- Checks job at round start, assigns buff.
That's it.
And when the time comes that it moves to a less recipe based system (hah like, never), then as I stated prior to this thread, nothing would change that much it would just use it quantitatively. But that's thinking too far ahead, why would you even think like that, nothing would get done.
People actually don't change jobs all the time, I play HoP alot. And if they do, they are not forgoing their buff, it simply becomes less use to them. If an engineer changes to become a medical doctor, if he knows his shit he's still going to be a good MD, but if he chooses to eat, he'll get the burn buff, which is still pretty handy.
